The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) is an organisation that co-ordinates specific activities for photographic clubs in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. It does this through 15 geographical regions known as Federations. The PAGB organises national competitive photographic events for its Federations and for clubs. It also offers other services such as Recorded Lectures to clubs and its own photographic Distinctions (known as awards for photographic merit) direct to qualifying club members. The PAGB has strong links with similar organisations in different countries throughout the world through its membership of FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art).

Judged a Success! The well attended YPU Workshop for Judges held at Carleton Community Centre on Saturday 18th February proved to be both enjoyable and successful. In the morning 15 budding judges from all over learned a lot from the experiences of YPU Executive members Ray Brammall, and Dave Burgess. After an excellent buffet organised by Pat Reed, all participants had a go at judging prints whilst being filmed by Thompson. The experienced judges then gave feedback on their performances before each video was played back.

The North Wales Photographic Association
The Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) was formed in 1967 by the common consent and agreement of all the Camera Clubs and Photographic Societies in Northern Ireland at that time, and is now the Parent Organisation of all such clubs and societies, now known as the Member Societies. The prime object of the Association, as stated in its constitution is “the advancement of photography in all its aspects”. In seeking to fulfil this objective the Association organises Lectures, Exhibitions and Workshops, sometimes amongst the Member Societies themselves, but frequently by inviting acknowledged experts, speakers and judges. from outside the Association. Such speakers and judges usually come from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) or the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF). Within a few days of the Association’s formation it became a member of the PAGB, which is the parent organisation for camera clubs and photographic societies throughout the UK.
