In this column, I’ll be looking at the first degree and, in particular, the last degree of a sign and their significance. I've chosen three examples where the Sun is at 29° of that most enigmatic sign, Scorpio. The Inner Wheel. Starlight Knight Astrology. Aspects are arguably the most important part of any particular horary chart.
Aspects, or the angles that planets see each other with, color the relationship between individual planets and give us information on what has occurred and what will occur. This is extremely valuable and is typically the information that a querent is looking for, so it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s happening in any particular aspectual relationship between particular planets. One of the most important foundations for aspects is being consistent with the orbs utilized. Classically orbs are determined based on the planets involved where brighter or larger planets are given larger orbs of influence, but the modern movement has put more of a focus on the aspects themselves, where more forceful aspects are given larger orbs than those deemed less forceful. As mentioned earlier in the article, aspects can be used to tell what has happened in the past regarding any particular question.

There are two more planets, each forming a trine aspect to one side of the opposition and a sextile to the other. In effect, there are two Wedge configurations. In a Wedge, the apex planet (that trines and sextiles the opposed planets) provides a release or relief point for the stress of the opposition.

The transiting midpoint of planetary pairs is an additional tool, commonly used by cosmobiologists, but often overlooked by traditionalists. The natal and progressed chart, in connection with the transiting midpoint of a planetary pair can be associated with health issues. Midpoints such as Mars/Jupiter, Mars/Saturn, Mars/Uranus, Mars/Neptune and Saturn/Neptune are very useful. There are others of course, but I will limit my article to these few. MARS/JUPITER is linked to successful activities and new ventures, but is also helpful when researching fertility and reproductive issues, plus the timing of a childbirth. MARS/SATURN relates to breathing difficulties, inflammation of bones, joints and bone marrow.

Robert Hand’s “Whole signs – The Oldest House System” and the “History of the Houses” by Robert Powell. Between the two Roberts I think I have found a house system that works and has the weight of history and scientific analysis to back it up.
