As many flowers do the Bloom can actually bloom by opening and closing. The entire lamp shade is 3D printed and the shade is produced in one piece and works straight out of the 3D printer. By letting the lamp bloom you can mechanically regulate the light that comes out of it. Â The Bloom also previously won a Good Design Award in 2010. Images are Copyright Thomas Duval. [PICS] Dictionary.com has 17 definitions of the verb “to print,” but none of them conjure up images like the metal cross you see on your right, or other objects such as glass figurines, iPad covers or even shoes — all of which can now be printed with the help of special machines.
The process of "3D printing" only loosely corresponds to our common image of printing. It may, however, revolutionize the way we define and interact with manufacturing. Chief among the proponents of this view is The Economist, speculating in a February cover story that the technology “has the potential to transform manufacturing because it lowers the costs and risks,” thus opening it to smaller players. It’s not hard to see this line of logic. Just picture a local craftsman able to make his own customized bicycle using parts created from his printer. What is CraftROBO? : Craft ROBO-GRAPHTEC. Clay goes digital It’s been just over a year since Belgian design studio Unfold 3D printed their first successful ceramic vessel on a RepRap.
Since then, their blog Unfold~fab has chronicled their experiments with 3D printed ceramics including clay materials, printing methods, and a personal fabrication interface the studio developed for last year’s L’Artisan Electronique installation. Unfold~fab is a wealth of practical information and intriguing visual documentation of one of history’s oldest crafts meeting today’s technological potential. What we have done with Isaac is transform the basic Mendel into a machine that can be replicated using CNC machines instead of relying on the slow process of printing one.
Isaac is a derivative of Mendel with the primary goal of making it easy to produce on 2.5D CNC machines. Isaac is a RepRap/RepStrap hybrid with parts that can be either printed on a Mendel sized 3D printer or a budget sized CNC machine. Once you have one you can print one for your friend either off our design or the original. We have spent a significant amount of time on this design and we hope that our variation will allow cheaper machines to be produced as more and more people offer this kit. FlemingCNC. Mendel-parts.com. MakerGear.com - Welcome. Metrix Create:Space. Because of who we are (hackers of all ages) and where we are (residential/business district), when we decided to set up PCB Fabrication for our electronics work, we decided it had to follow some strict guidelines.
Our lab had to be safe. It had to be capable. It had to be fast. We started down our path and built it, without compromise. Strangely, our choices led us to build out more than just a chemical free workspace. The Advanced Circuits Lab at Metrix Create:Space is our most cutting edge process and currently the fastest way to prototype sophisticated electronics that we are aware of.
The Advanced Circuits Lab is incredibly safe as it does not involve hazardous chemical storage or waste. We can now create boards with advanced features and better than chemical accuracy using a completely dry process. Our main machine is a LPKF Protolaser S that directly ablates copper, gold and other metals from laminates, ceramics and polyamide films. Our process is extremely accurate. 3D Candy Printing: An Interview with Designer Marcelo Coelho - Food. Three-dimensional printers are getting a lot of hype at the moment.
