It's best to think of our ZScape™ holograms as somewhere between an 3D Physical model and a high-end 2D rendering. Zebra Imaging has patented advances in lasers, optics and image processing that enable it to create vivid, lifelike holographic imagery from 3D digital data. A ZScape™ hologram consists of a thin sheet of plastic, which when placed on a vertical or horizontal surface and illuminated with an appropriate light source, reveals a 3D, full-parallax, color or monochromatic (green) image that appears to float above the surface, bounded by the borders of the plastic sheet from which it emerges. True 3D: No special eyewear is needed for enjoying a 360-degree viewing range. Field proven: Thousands of unclassified images have already been utilized by the US military for visualization and defense planning applications.
5 July 2011 Last updated at 14:08 GMT By Katia Moskvitch Technology reporter, BBC News The printer uses chocolate instead of ink Chocolate lovers may soon be able to print their own 3D creations thanks to work by UK scientists. A 3D printer that uses chocolate has been developed by University of Exeter researchers - and it prints layers of chocolate instead of ink or plastic.
In 2010 3D Systems acquired Bits From Bytes, a UK based provider of low cost, color 3D Printer Kits and Low cost 3D printers. With RapMan and the BfB 3000 we can offer affordability and excellent utility.

My3DScanner produces raw material for 3D modeling and 3D fabrication. With more 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC routers become available and affordable, more quality 3D models are needed. Economic manufacturing tools need economic, easy and user-friendly scanning and modeling tools. My3DScanner is the one. 3D printing and rapid manufacturing…
Cell Cycle - 3d + subdivision surfaces This is the app we used to create the 3d printed cell cycle pieces . It uses the same technique as the radiolaria system, but in 3D. It also employs Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces to make the smoothed shape.

The illustrious and industrious nophead of the RepRap project prints 101 Mendel 3D printers in 2010. Using his 3D printers - HydraRaptor and a Mendel it printed - they print for more than half the 8760 hours available in a year. He sells the Mendels to 3D printing enthusiasts in over 20 countries worldwide. 3D printing materials savant Mark Ganter and his research team at the Solheim lab introduce glazed gypsum as a 3D printing material.
Make your sketch on paper and scan the image, or use drawing software such as Paint or Photoshop. If your design is based on an existing design, you can also take pictures of course. Make sure your sketch is clear and unambiguous. Explain your idea as clearly as possible (in English) so the designer can understand it. Don’t forget to include dimensions! Ideally, show your sketch to someone else and check if they can understand it.
Very loud cheers and congratulations to our colleagues over at .MGX and designer Patrick Jouin. Patrick Jouin has just won a Red Dot Award for his .MGX.Bloom lamp in the category outstanding product design! The Bloom table lamp is inspired by nature. As many flowers do the Bloom can actually bloom by opening and closing. The entire lamp shade is 3D printed and the shade is produced in one piece and works straight out of the 3D printer. By letting the lamp bloom you can mechanically regulate the light that comes out of it.
Ponoko is asking you to think Spring with our latest design challenge. Design any spring-themed product for digital making with your Personal Factory , and you could win a deluxe Egg-Bot Kit from Evil Mad Science (just in time for some robotically decorated Easter eggs) + free making from Ponoko . Your spring time design can use any digital making method available through Personal Factory: 3D printing , laser cutting , or a combination of the the two.
FILTON, just outside Bristol, is where Britain’s fleet of Concorde supersonic airliners was built. In a building near a wind tunnel on the same sprawling site, something even more remarkable is being created. Little by little a machine is “printing” a complex titanium landing-gear bracket, about the size of a shoe, which normally would have to be laboriously hewn from a solid block of metal. Brackets are only the beginning.
« Quickly producing a 3D model allows us to visualize the real thing rather than an image, which helps to make decisions on its proportions and evaluate perceptions of the object. »
