MEDLINE is indexed using NLM's controlled vocabulary, MeSH® (Medical Subject Headings). Abstracts, which are taken directly from the published articles, are included for more than 62% of the records added from 1975 forward. Records that previously would have been added to AIDSLINE, HealthSTAR, and Toxline are now part of the MEDLINE database. Each record is classified and indexed by medical research specialists who assign terms in accordance with EMTREE. Conference Abstract records were added in July 2012. EMBASE File 73 contains records from 1974 to the present; File 72 contains records from 1993 to the present.
