Make-up Magnet Board. We all know with craft blogs that original ideas are often hard to come by, we find ideas we love and make them our own but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves. I feel like I've finally done something original here and I'm excited about it. I'll show you the finished product and then explain. Behold my Make-up Magnet Board. I have a friend who is beautiful and stylish and has always loved make-up but recently took a course that intensified her love.

Her renewed interest has worn off on me and it made me remember eye shadows I'd hidden away that were gathering dust. The basket was a mess and I was overwhelmed with all my choices never knowing what to use, digging through to see what I had and find what I wanted was a pain. I painted it (The hard way, with a brush instead of spray paint. I went to the hardware store and picked up some metal and had them cut it to fit inside my frame. Here comes the brilliant part though. Next I wanted a place to store my brushes and liners though. 52 Weeks Project. 3D paper diamonds. Hello there. Hope you all had a great Easter! We had a lovely relaxing holiday (….well as relaxing as it gets with kids). It would have been great to have another week off ^_^ Before I forget I just want to say a big thank you for all the kind messages you have send me regarding my book (you really are a nice bunch!)

…and huge thanks to all the people who have bought it so far… I’ve been meaning to get this paper diamond up for weeks now…but it’s taken ages to figure the template out (and I’ve been having breaks between each failed attempt). It’s based on simplified version of Satoshi Kamiya’s origami diamond. These paper diamonds are tricky to make (& require a fair bit of patience) so definitely adults only!

When you have made your diamonds you can attach thread and hang them up. How-to 1. 2. 3. 4. Happy Monday all! Edited to add: A few people have had problems printing the templates (the dotted lines do not print). Stenciling with Bleach. So here’s tutorial #3 in the bleach series! It’s an easy way to customize a shirt, fabric by removing color instead of adding it.

For my first project I used a $1 doily as my stencil. I placed it on a navy t-shirt and sprayed a mist of bleach over top: I moved the stencil to another location and sprayed again. You can see the color starting to change at the top: Navy….turning to a dark pink/purple: Finished: You can also use vinyl or freezer paper stencils. I used a sponge to dab the bleach around the stencil and I used a spray bottle to mist around it: Once the shirt began to change colors, I sprayed the back of the shirt with bleach. Bleach stenciling is an easy way to add lettering to a shirt too. Finished! Visit the other two projects from this week by clicking the images below:

DIY Star Lantern. Also: ...and 69 more. DIY String Art. Hi guys! Dina here from Honey & Fitz back with another tutorial. This time I’m showing you how to make some string art for your little one’s room! Rather than deal with hammers and cutting wood, I decided to do this project using cork tiles. Not only are they easy to find and inexpensive, they’re also very light weight so you don’t have to worry about them falling off the wall and hurting anyone.

Here are the supplies you’ll need: Cork tiles // Linoleum Nails // 3M Hanging Strips // Contact Cement Stack the cork tiles on top of each other and use your contact cement to glue them together. I really wanted the look of a white background for my string art so I decided to paint the cork. Once the paint has dried, flip your cork tile over and apply your hanging strips. Create your template using whatever font you like. When you’ve traced the entire template, carefully remove the paper. Tie your string in a double knot onto your first nail now, and start weaving in a back and forth fashion. DIY Ring Bowl Made from Oven-Bake Clay. Posted on September 13, 2012 by Christina I have done countless DIY projects over the past four years, and honestly, this DIY ring bowl is one of my all time faves. Why? It’s easy. It’s inexpensive. After the wedding you can display it as a cherished handmade keepsake from your wedding.

The inspiration for this project came from Esther over at WhollyKao. Want to make one of these for your ring bearer to take down the aisle? You will need: 795 gram package of White Oven Bake Clay (I used Sculpey brand. Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Form your clay into a ball and place on Silpat or piece of parchment paper. Roll it out to approximately 1/4 inch. Take your fabric doily and position it how you want it to appear on your bowl. Position your lid on the clay, just to get an idea of where you want to create your cut-out.

Peel back doily. Position your lid and press firmly on the clay. Remove excess clay and save for future projects. Use a chopstick to create two holes at the top of the piece. Let dry. Lotto Balls & Recycled Gift Wrap. Happy holidays! These are my famous “Lotto Balls” that I make every year for an ornament gift exchange. Basically, it is a decorated ornament ball with a scratch-off lotto ticket inside. Normally I make these with clear balls, but these red and green ones were plucked from our tree instead of buying new ones this year. You can decorate your balls (hehe) however you would like. I used plain ball ornaments, ribbon, glitter, lotto tickets, paint markers, scotch tape, Mod Podge, and a very fine paint brush. Using the paint marker, draw your design on the ornament. Here’s the tricky part.

Don’t forget to add the ribbon hanger. Now… on to the wrapping paper. Here are those Lotto Balls wrapped up in a Hollister and American Eagle shopping bag: BTW, the boxes I used were actually from Starbucks. Random Tutorial Generator. Stencil with freezer paper (harry potter tee) Yes, I am a nerd. I came up with a brilliant idea for a Harry Potter t-shirt and I couldn't resist. "Expecto Patronum! " However, you can make whatever kind of design you want with a freezer paper stencil. It doesn't have to be Harry Potter related. I learned about the joys of freezer paper back in my early college days. Basically, freezer paper is backed with a plastic coating that will stick to soft surfaces when ironed, but it peels off cleanly and easily. To make a sweet t-shirt you will need: paper & pencil a t-shirt an iron a piece of cardboard or poster board fabric paint & brush Start by drawing your design on some regular old paper.

My design kept getting bigger, so I taped two sheets together. Next, place your design underneath a sheet of freezer paper and trace it neatly with a sharpie. The marker gives your lines greater width making it easier to cut them out and paint them in later. Now place a piece of cardboard under your freezer paper to protect your table while you cut.

DIY Glitter Vases. Inspired by many reader requests for a DIY tutorial to recreate the glittery mason jar vases from this New Year’s Eve party, today we’re playing with glitter. A whole lot of glitter! I whipped up two different versions of these glitter vasses, both of which are quick and easy. They’re perfect for parties, weddings or just to add a touch of sparkle to your dining room table. I seriously love how they turned out! Supplies - Glass containers (preferably with smooth, straight sides)Glitter (I used Martha Stewart Crafts glitter in Wintermint and Bronze from Michaels)Foam brushPainter’s tapeModPodge For the first vase I used a small cylindrical vase and using the foam brush, applied a thin and even coat of ModPodge on the interior walls of the vase.

Then I just let the vase dry. For the second version, I used a mason jar and went for a glitter-dipped look. Next up, I used a copper glitter and coated the outside of the vase. Many thanks to my lovely friend Alice G. Waterproof Your Canvas Shoes | Ahoy! | Portland Maine DIY Blog. DIY Glitter Tattoos. Glitter tattoos may seem akin to carnival face painting, but they've recently emerged as a popular beauty accessory like their blinged-out nail counterpart. We witnessed hundreds of our community members line up at The Beauty Social for Urban Decay's sparkling skull and snake tattoos, and we loved seeing everyone walk around with their dramatic arm candy. Many beauty brands sell pricey glitter tattoo kits that we've tested and loved, but you don't have to shell out a lot of money for this trendy temporary body art.

Create your own custom DIY glitter tattoos with items you most likely already own. What You'll Need Step 1 First envision the scale and style of your design, then cut your contact paper to size, leaving at least half-inch margins. Step 2 Use an X-Acto knife to carefully cut out your template over a safe surface such as an old magazine. Step 3 Soak a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol or use an alcohol wipe to sterilize the area where you’ll place the tattoo. Step 4 Step 5. DIY: Glittery Soles. While at the Lanvin showroom in Paris I spotted the prettiest pair of glittery soled stilettos (seen here) and have been thinking about them ever since. I love a touch of understated glamour and these were too perfect for a casual look in need of some subtle bling. So I got to work on a rainy day and wore them the next day—see what I paired them with! Below is a simple tutorial with a few tips I picked up during my glittery project.

Step 1: Tape the bottoms where the outsole arch ends. Step 3: Paint on the glue with a paintbrush, cover with glitter and shake off over a nearby sink. Step 4: Once dry paint on another layer of the glue/seal. Tip: I did the inside of the heel as well and loved how it turned out. Step 5: Once they're dry tap them a little to make sure the glitter is on there good... or you can leave a sparkly trail for a little while. Tip: To clean up the edges and bottom I took a damp cloth and lightly picked up stray glitters and used scotch tape to pick up any glue debris.

Pipe the center of the cake Pipe the icing on the top Note from the editor This totally works! Lace Stenciled Framed Song Lyrics! (+our wedding music) If you’ve been following my blog, you know how I made 60 of these painted frames with song lyrics for our wedding decorations /favors… Well, a lot of wedding guests loved them and took one home, but we had a ton left at the end of the night, which we boxed back up and took home with us… So we now have 30 of them hanging on our big white living room wall!

Yay!! There are several duplicate lyrics, some of which I already changed out to engagement photos, but once we get our wedding photos I’ll switch out some more lyrics with photos (but just a few, because we love the look of the lyrics!) : So, hey, you want to know how to make these yourself? It’s a pretty simple project, but a bit time (and space) consuming… Well, that’s if you’re making 60 like I did… If you just make a few, it shouldn’t take long.

I made 2 different types of painted frames: textured frames that were just plain spray painted, and smooth(ish) frames that were painted with lace used as stencils. / (covering The Carpenters) Embroidery Designs at Urban Threads - Projects. Got ink? This fabulous ink belongs to our digitizer, Danielle. I’m a little jealous, I admit. I’ve always thought tattoos were pretty awesome, but I’ve been too much of a wuss to take the plunge and commit to one design forever. That’s not to say many other Urban Threadsters haven’t taken the plunge with UT designs, but what if you’re not ready for it just yet? Well, Halloween is starting to creep up on us, and it’s a perfect time to try out a whole new look, and whip up a fast costume. Don’t know what to be this year? How 'bout some tattooed rockabilly style? Pigment Tutorial Part 1 | Nevertoomuchglitter’s Weblog.

Here it is, finally! The Pigment Tutorial! For our purposes, pigment is a dry coloring material that can change the color or texture or a nail polish.
