http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vd8z2 Journalist Sean Adams celebrates a decade of his influential website, Drowned in Sound. Started in 2000 after the closure of rock weekly 'Melody Maker' left a hole in the market for alternative music coverage, Drowned In Sound quickly became the go-to destination for anyone into up and coming new bands. In this show Sean - who is now also a regular writer for the Sunday Times - discusses the genesis of the site, how its rise coincided with digital revolution in music distribution and his musical and personal highlights of the last decade. Sean also shares the highlights from Drowned In Sound's 10th birthday celebrations, which includes gigs by Male Bonding and No Age, and plays a selection of the tunes which have soundtracked the site's existence including At The Drive In, Health, Bat For Lashes and The Stills.

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14275-does-it-look-like-im-here/ Describing Emeralds' music feels a little like capping that underwater oil spill must: how do you get your hands around this stuff? The Cleveland trio may favor methodical cadences in their music, but their releases come fast and furious. According to Discogs.com, they've put out around 40 releases in just four years, most of them CDRs and cassettes. There are variations of mood and intensity, and each major release has its own particular signature, owing in part to changes in gear and technique, and in part to being a band that improvises and records non-stop.

Double Denim Records, image // Adam Minorczyk HEAVY ROTATION As...

As readers of our blog will know we have an almost OCD attitude towards blogging new music. Unless it’s really fresh and not been blogged before we won’t write about it. To offset this unhealthy addiction we’ve decided to start a new feature called ‘Heavy Rotation’ where every week we select a stand out track from the world of music. Our inaugural Heavy Rotation goes to Museum of Bella Artes and their foot stomping ‘Watch The Glow’. http://www.doubledenimrecords.com/post/1319508157/image-adam-minorczyk-heavy-rotation-as#usernotes

Video: James Blake, “A Limit To Your Love” « The FADER

We know D’Angelo’s had some rough times, but he looks really different in his new video. Jokes! James Blake , scrawny dude with a tender voice, future-master of all future genres, is rewinding the clock back to the year two thousand swoony seven, when Feist ‘s “A Limit To Your Love” jammed it on some lemonade on the screened in porch, cool breeze shit. Blake’s a little more melancholy, possibly bleakened by Fever Ray’s go-to director Martin de Thurah, with household appliances falling into a hole in the ground and lots of shots of the back of his head.
