В то же время появляется новая постановка фигуры, напоминающая латинскую букву «S». Верхняя часть фигуры слегка наклонена вперед (так называемая «голубиная грудь»), живот втянут, а нижняя часть корпуса как бы немного отодвинута назад. Это достигалось с помощью специального корсета, стягивающего талию до модного объема (около 55 см.). Несмотря на то, что против корсетов активно выступали врачи, большинство женщин было готово ходить в панцире, на 10-15 сантиметров уже нормальной талии.
В руках нимфы носили большие богато украшенные веера, зонтики и сумочки.
