Art Activity for a Preschool Farm Theme - Fun-A-Day!

We’ve covered apples and families so far. This week, we’re jumping into a preschool farm theme. I have a fun art activity that is always a huge hit with my students – corn painting! I’ve done this activity for years and years, and it never fails to impress the kiddos. Below are Amazon links to materials similar to what we used (for your convenience). Materials we used 3 corn cobsCorn cob holders Tempera paint – red, yellow, and orange9×12 white construction paperWhite canvas Setting up First we shucked the corn and removed all the extraneous strings from the cob.

How we created I told the kiddos we would get to paint with the corn. As one of my girls said, “The corn with the handles are kinda like a rolling pin!” There was a ton of talking as we went about this farm theme art project! After the children made individual corn paintings, we decided to make a collaborative version.

Rainy Day Activity For Kids { Puzzle Hunt } Rainy days at our house always start with happy play but by early afternoon my kids have used up their patience with each other and mine isn’t far behind.

Rainy Day Activity For Kids { Puzzle Hunt }

This puzzle hunt took 2 minutes to set up and they played 3 times. More importantly the bad attitudes we were all developing were stopped in their tracks. It’s the perfect easy rainy day activity for kids. It’s also a great way to use puzzles. We used wooden puzzles but if you have older kids it would be fun to try a jigsaw puzzle instead. Gather your materials. Other ways to play include having your kids hide the pieces and you find them , take it outside ( you may want to pop the pieces in a Ziploc or 5 ) , and include words on each to create a secret message . On long summer days especially if you are stuck inside for whatever reason simple play like this goes so far in improving moods, recharging a bad day and getting kids to work together. Nature Suncatcher Wind Chimes

Yep! These double as gorgeous suncatchers. too! This activity starts out with getting the kids really involved and moving because the kids get to explore in the backyard. We just went around the yard finding pretty colors of flowers and interesting leaves. You could definitely make this part an entire activity in itself and do a scavenger hunt for certain colors, textures, or shapes. Once we collected our nature goodies (you don’t need a lot, they go a long way!) To make your found nature into wind chime suncatchers, you’ll also need: Contact paperScissorsMarker or penRings from Mason jar lidsString (we used hemp cord – affiliate link – but yarn works too)A sturdy stick Then peel the backing off the contact paper and tap onto the surface, sticky side up. Then we cut them out.
