Monster Mobile Toilet Roll Craft

Make a monster mobile using cardboard rolls! Of all the Halloween crafts we’ve made here over the years, this monster mobile is one of my favourites! Sure, some monsters are scary, but these guys are fun and friendly, and super-goofy! The hooligans had a great time painting and decorating them, using basic craft materials that we had around the house. To make your toilet roll monster mobile, you’ll need: Cardboard tubespipe cleaners (optional)googly eyesjagged teeth cut from craft foam, construction paper or card stockpaint (think hallowe’en colours: green, orange, purple, black)yarn *For those of you who prefer not to use toilet rolls for crafting, the tubes that hold paper towels, aluminum foil, plastic wrap and wrapping paper are great alternatives.

iLoveToCreate Blog: DIY Glow In The Dark Pumpkins

TIME FOR PUMPKINS! Every year I look forward to buying tons of plastic pumpkins and create new designs. I like the artificial pumpkins for the simple fact that they will last forever, well not really but you get the point. Tulip created an amazing glow in the dark paint and it worked perfect for this project. This craft is great for kids to do and you will watch the amazement on their face when you put them under or near a black light! Update: Since this glow pumpkin was posted, it's become the most popular post on our blog!

You will need: *Plastic Pumpkins I couldn't just use one particular color for this project so I used all of them! Step One: Grab your neon paint and start at the top of the pumpkin drawing thin, squiggly lines up and down. Step Two: Grab your next color and start adding it right next to your first color. Last updated Wednesday, October 22, 2014 Last week I added a new element to our circle time routine in my two- and three-year-olds classes…a simple weather check.

Weather Sensory Bottles for Circle Time

I wanted some sort of hands-on manipulative to keep the children engaged and make the concept of weather more tangible, so I decided to try my hand at making some simple weather sensory bottles. These sensory bottles only took a few minutes to make using bits and bobs from my craft stash, and the children really respond to them. To make these bottles, I used fillable craft bottles I found at Hobby Lobby, but you could use any size bottle you wish. Raid your recycling bin! Here are all of the different bottles I made- they coordinate with the weather choices on our little chart. For cloudy I used three jumbo white pom poms and some tap water.

Snowy was fun- I found some tiny plastic snowflake ornaments at Hobby Lobby, added a few to the bottle, and dumped in a hefty amount of white glitter after adding the glycerin/water. Whooooo is missing?

We read a story during circle time and then often follow it up with some sort of learning activity or game. We’ve played several different variations of this particular game and it is one that they never get tired of… The story book that inspired this game was “Little Hoot” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal… If you aren’t familiar with this author, she is well known for writing children’s books with an ironic twist. In “Little Hoot” for example, a young owl just wants to go to bed at a reasonable time, but instead his mother and father insist that he stay up late to play like other little owls. Children just love these books because they are so silly.

While one child leaves the circle to hide their eyes… Another child curls up into a ball and gets covered with a blanket. That is the cue for the guesser to return to the circle to try to determine who is under the blanket… This game is good test of memory. Available on Amazon.
