Portland MQG BOM - my Buddy block!

So it turns out the very first issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks has been reprinted and is available in stores right now. In that issue is my Buddy block (”Around the Rosie” is what the magazine calls it), and right alongside with Buddy is the block by Pam Vieira-McGinnis of PamKittyMorning! I say “buddy block” because Pam and I are buddies and we secret squirrel’d our blocks so that they’d go together as companion blocks. I suspect Quiltmaker caught on to our not-so elaborate scheme since they placed our blocks together (which of course thrilled us!). I’m sharing my Buddy block for the PMQG’s BOM, but all are welcome to enjoy my instructions. So back when Pam and I were making our blocks, I was farting around with Pam’s block and my block, using fabrics I didn’t care too much about for playing/experimentation purposes. Pattern Gallery. A Week in the Life: Quilter’s Miscellany.

I wanted to share a few tidbits with you today.

A Week in the Life: Quilter’s Miscellany

They’re small things from my week that, when grouped together, make enough for a blog post. We’ll call them A Quilter’s Miscellany. 1. I finished this quilt for my son’s birthday next week. It’s Modern Maze from one of our sister publications, McCall’s Quick Quilts. McCall's offers a kit for this quilt at quiltandsewshop.com. I got the fabrics at my LQS* but there is a kit available from quiltandsewshop. I love this quilt and I know my son will love it, too. I used my quick quilt label method, for which you’ll find a tutorial here. 2. It looked pretty cute in the listing, but when it arrived, it was even better in person. Oh my word, how adorable is this?! And if that wasn’t enough, the little feet are hand painted to coordinate with the fabric!

You’ll find similar items from the maker, Nicole, in her etsy shop, FrankieWaffles. Andie johnson sews: Design Wall Monday. Well, it's really a table, not the design wall.

We're in the process of shuffling rooms in order for me to have a proper sewing studio with storage space, lots of light and , most importantly, a door that closes. I need these things so I can stop being a hag and griping about people (I'm looking straight at you, oldest child) moving, using or taking MY STUFF. I'm a professional! I can't have my tools being used for hockey equipment repairs, gift wrapping or hair cutting!! Sigh. This is really happening, people. So today, in the dining room, I'm finishing a customer quilt.
