With more than 760 designated wilderness areas from coast to coast, the system protects a great diversity of places from lake-dotted alpine meadows, otherworldly desert lands, bird-filled marshes to our geologically wondrous redrock canyons. Every one of these wilderness areas is special in its own right. If only we could visit them all!
