How to travel by train in Egypt

Egypt is fabulous, and Cairo one of the most fascinating cities in the world. There's no need to book a tour, it's easy to travel round Egypt independently. Egyptian Railways are easily the most comfortable way to travel between Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, Port Said & Suez. The views from the train can be wonderful, especially along the Nile amongst the fields and palm trees on the Cairo-Luxor-Aswan and Cairo-Alexandria routes. As so often, the train journeys give you an insight into the country. IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Egyptian Government shut down their rail network in August 2013 due to major civil unrest problems in Egypt, but it's reported that all trains are now running as normal.

The main flights (MAD-CAI-MAD) were regular: the route was operated by two aircraft's, B737-800 which were clean and comfortable, but the crews weren't polite or friendly. The food was a bit spicy like everything in Egypt. First flight was delayed about 30 minutes, but the plane arrived on time to Cairo. After that flight, I had to catch another one, this time to Luxor. How do you get from LaGuardia to JFK. JFK To LGA - Easiest Way On Ground Transportation? — Aviation Polls Forum.
