» Top 5 Semantic Search Engines
An important part of this process is disambiguation, both of the queries and of the content on the web. What this means is that the search engine — through natural language processing — will know whether you are looking for a car or a big cat when you search for “jaguar”. The five search engines below all use semantic analysis to sift through and present data. But, as you will see, they do not do this in the same way and present five different products. The Semantic Web is a web of data. There is lots of data we all use every day, and it is not part of the web. I can see my bank statements on the web, and my photographs, and I can see my appointments in a calendar. But can I see my photos in a calendar to see what I was doing when I took them? Can I see bank statement lines in a calendar?
C Semantic Web
In general, semantics is the study of meaning. (The word "semantic" comes from the Greek semantikos, or "significant meaning," derived from sema, or "sign.") Semantic Web technologies help separate meanings from data, document content, or application code, using technologies based on open standards. If a computer understands the semantics of a document, it doesn't just interpret the series of characters that make up that document: it understands the document's meaning. The Semantic Web provides a common framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enterprise, and community boundaries.

Outil: Le Chronologue
