Thats Torn It V1. Leaflet - video & variation. When I was playing around making a video demo for leaflet yesterday, I experimented with a different approach to drawing it.
Here's the result: I really love it. So flowy and organic. The video runs through how to do the basic pattern, some shading options, and shows the alternative way to draw as above. It does run for a bit over 8 minutes, though you won't have to listen to my voice the whole time (a fate worse than death if my husband is to be believed!!!) I think that there are several of you who are on Pintrest as well as I have found you and because there is a lot of zentangle art posting. I don't go on as much as I could but I have to be prepared to sit for a while when I log in. There is a lot to see. If anyone doesn't have an account and would like one, I think it is still join by invite, just hit me up via email and I'll send you an invitation. Why all the Pintrest stuff? Is that not awesome? 1. had the nerve. 2: Was sure my kids wouldn't hate me. 3. An anonymous commenter has noted who the artist is. I was really taken buy the whole thing but I was drawn to the pattern on the left in the middle.

I plan to have a display of some of the Zentangle-inspired art as well as some of my watercolors and maybe an acrylic. I wanted to show a wedding (or Valentine) card, a birthday, a Thank you and maybe one sort of "generic" card. (I loved adding the piano keys to the heart.) I am trying out using some of my stamps incorporated into the designs. The "banner" behind the heart is actually a "stamp". Now I have a little framing left to do, find my two easels, and finishing glueing up the name tags. Ginny Stiles: Mother-Daughter Zentangles. I’ve discovered an awesome Zentangle site which has great instructions for doing loads of different designs, and over the past couple of days I’ve been working on some of them.
I decided to do what they call the “step-outs” for myself so I can easily access them from my Art journal. I particularly like the one on the right, entitled “Cubine” – I tried to draw this the other day, without much success, but once I’d found the step-out, it was easy. It’s so three-dimensional, and you can decide from which angle you are looking at the boxes by where you draw the black squares – I’ve tried several variations here. Braids and twists take quite a lot of practice to get them even. I’m still not there yet but hopefully eventually I’ll be able to do decent ones without even thinking about it. The one at the bottom left on the above photo, repeated on the left page below, “Finery”), I haven’t got quite right – but it’s coming! Here it is in detail. Zentangle.
