The Tax Law Review (TLR), the premier law school journal for tax policy scholarship, is one of the few faculty-edited journals in the legal academy. Under the current leadership of Professor Deborah Schenk, Editor-in-Chief, the TLR publishes articles and essays by leading legal academics and practitioners as well as noted economists. The journal annually awards merit scholarships to six or seven students who serve as graduate editors, assisting the faculty editorial board.

The Tax Law Review publishes four issues annually, one of which is devoted to an annual tax policy symposium. The TLR invites several eminent academics and practitioners to present papers on a single topic of tax policy. The day-long invitational symposium provides the authors the opportunity to discuss their work with academics, practitioners and government representatives who offer legal and economic commentary. It is very typical for students to set off on a research topic, only to find out that the topic they've chosen is too broad. If you are lucky, you will find out before you conduct too much research, because much of the research you carry out in the beginning will be useless once you finally do narrow your topic.

It is a good idea to run your initial research idea by a teacher or librarian to get an expert opinion. He or she will save you some time and give you some tips on narrowing the scope of your topic. How Will You Know If Your Topic Is Too Broad? If you find yourself in the library staring at a shelf full of books that could work as references for your topic, your topic is too broad. A good topic addresses a specific question or problem. If your topic can be summed up in a word or two, like smoking, school cheating, education, overweight teens, corporeal punishment, Korean War, or hip hop, it is too broad. CNG: Greek and Roman Coins. Greek Coinage Ancient Greek coinage can be divided into three periods that generally conform to the traditional periods of Greek art. The earliest period, the Archaic, covers the time from the introduction of coinage in Asia Minor sometime in the seventh century BC to the end of the Greco-Persian Wars in 479 BC.

During this period the Greeks moved from a currency struck in electrum (an alloy of gold and silver) to a bi-metallic one of silver and gold. The Lydians may have been the first to produce coins by exploiting the naturally-occurring electrum found in the local Paktolos River. About the same time, cities in Ionia also began to strike electrum coins. While these early coins were little more than ingots, they typically included one or more punchmarks, applied to indicate either the purity or issuing authority.

At the same time, to the West, from the Aegean islands to Magna Graecia and Sicily, the Greek city-states began to mint coins. Roman Coinage Byzantine Coinage. Perseus - Help - Starting Points. A leading post-liberal thinker, he is a Senior Fellow of the New America Foundation. Washington—The beginning of the 21st century is also the dawn of the first global society of states. The Seventy-Five Years’ War of the 20th century (1914–89) marked the transition from the European society of states, extended throughout the world by European imperialism, to a new, global society of states. The world wars and the Cold War were, among other things, wars of secular political religion among fascism, communism and liberalism. But liberalism is a doctrine about the external organization of society. The term "humanism" has several meanings, including secularism or humanitarianism. From the perspective of classical humanism, civilization refers to a high degree of social and political organization. Back to index. Google Books.
