Whenever I fall into a beauty rut, I generally find myself double-tapping countless random Instagrams from girls I have never and probably will never meet. Despite its intolerance for all-caps usernames, Instagram is a great creep-portal for spying on exes, spying on potential future exes, and of course, admiring the style and beauty of strangers. I’ve tapped "follow" on quite a few random accounts: feeds filled with attractive selfies, cute animals, and/or envious travel documentation.
This fall I'm looking to Instagram to inform my makeup choices. Here are a handful of my favorite beauty “likes” of late. Rather than just skip a skincare step (since I'm neurotic enough about that, I'll convince myself upon waking up that having not used a serum is the reason my skin looks dull in the a.m.), I'll find myself occasionally joining two like-functioned products to team up in the application process. So far, I'm into the results. I wouldn't say it's necessarily the best way to make your products super-efficient, since most beauty products need to be emulsified together via machines and stuff. After about three weeks of use, honestly, my skin looks better without make-up than with it. I think that speaks to the effectiveness of this product in and of itself! I've always had irritation and texture issues (mainly on my forehead, caused by hair products) but now the skin looks and feels smooth as ever. I have genetically gigantic pores, so there's really no shrinking them, but TLC helps keep them cleaned out and appearing smaller. 5 Things I Wish I Knew When I First Started Using Liquid Liner. Over the past year, I've become a liquid eyeliner loyalist. Save for instances when I need to test out new products, I've never let a pencil or cream liner touch my oily eyelids. In my experience, liquid liners are generally more long-lasting than pencil or creams, and I've grown to love the statement-making look they yield. Plus, the built-in brush, whether it comes in the twist-off cap or in pen form, is super-handy, especially since I don't wash my brushes as often as I'd like.
Getting to love liquid eyeliner, however, wasn't an easy process. Since it's long-lasting, it can be difficult to remove, and since it's liquid, you have to be careful about smudging. Combine those two things, and a cat eye just seems 100 time mores intimidating. I'm proud to say I've reached a place in my beauty game where liquid liner doesn't instill as much fear in me as it used to.
Choose your tools and formula wisely. I find that marker-type liners are the easiest to use. Line with your eyes open. Highlighter Sticks: Stick ‘Em Where Your Cheeks Don’t Shine.
