Beans: Good for your heart! Beans as a side dish? Vegetarians are more used to featuring beans in the main dish, but since discovering how useful they can be as a complement to a meal, rather than the centerpiece, I keep several cans of beans on hand for those nights when pasta isn't quite enough.

Lima Beans with Lemon and Garlic - Wednesday Food Blogging

When green beans are on sale for a mere 88 cents a pound, as they were this week at my local Ralphs, you can be sure I’ll be cooking some with dinner. I usually just steam them or sauté them with a little garlic, but when I found this fresh and flavorful-sounding recipe for a cold green bean side dish inside a package of feta cheese I was eager to try it.

Simple Cauliflower Recipe

http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/simple-cauliflower-recipe.html Wayne and I share in the prep work for dinner most nights. Two or three times a week this involves chopping cauliflower into "tiny trees". Wayne knows the drill, and does a good job cutting the florets into pieces not much larger than a table grape. We then turn the cauliflower into a hot skillet with a bit of salt, olive oil, and whatever spices and seasoning strike our fancy that night. Cauliflower is endlessly adaptable, and cooking it this way is quick and delicious. After just a few minutes in the pan the cauliflower starts to brown, and then takes on a deep, nutty flavor.

Roast asparagus with shaved parmesan « Gastronomy Domine

If you thought the hollandaise sauce recipe from the other day sounded like too much hard work, this asparagus recipe will suit you down to the ground. It’s very quick and easy, and this cooking method makes the most of the tender sweetness of the stems. It also looks posh, so you can serve it up as a starter (or as an accompaniment) to guests and feel smug when they congratulate you on something which, in reality, only took you five minutes to put together. For a starter, look at serving between six and eight stalks of asparagus per person. You can get away with less than this if you’re making it to accompany something else as a main course, but it’s worth making plenty because roast asparagus is downright delicious. To serve two as a starter you’ll need:

There are a lot of things that I want to write about right now, ideas pop in and out of my head with the speed of light which also means that I don’t always remember all these ideas. But today I wanted to write about the Paper Chef, your response was nice to see and some of you had some ideas of how Paper Chef could change. One of these was to extend the time to a month and maybe this would make more people participate but it would also take away what is particular about PC and turn it into one of many events.
