The International Cycling Union [UCI] has announced that three-times Tour de France winner Alberto Contador will be investigated for doping during the 2010 Tour. In a statement released on Monday evening they said: "At the end of a long and meticulous inquiry entrusted to highly qualified, WADA-accredited experts [World Anti-Doping Agency], and considering all the information currently in its possession, the UCI has concluded that disciplinary proceedings should be opened against Alberto Contador. " When news broke in September of Contador's positive test for the banned anabolic agent clenbuterol the Spaniard reacted furiously, claiming the low levels found in his urine came from eating contaminated steak. But the UCI appear to be confident that enough evidence exists to indicate something other than some bad meat was responsible for the presence of clenbuterol.
