A common problem among new moderators is how to tell if someone is a spammer, especially since there's no single all-encompassing definition of spam on reddit. So I thought I'd go through a some of the posts caught in the spam filter on /r/entertainment , and examine each one to see if they appear to be "spammers". This user is 3 months old, and has only made 4 posts. They are all about the same subject, from sites with very similar names, and the one comment mentions purchasing guitars. This does not seems like a real user. This account is only 4 days old, posts from the same domain, and comments only on their own posts.

Look for the original source of content , and submit that. Often, a blog will reference another blog, which references another, and so on with everyone displaying ads along the way. Dig through those references and submit a link to the creator, who actually deserves the traffic.
If you find a redditor who submits links / writes comments that you enjoy, you can befriend them by clicking the [ +mates ] button on their profile. ( View example ) The person you befriend will not know that you have done this, and they will not see you in scarlet. I guess this feature would be more appropriately named "Stalk".
