Preface comment by Sterling D. Allan, Feb. 10, 2006, 7:00 pm Mountain On Jan. 13, 2006, Robert Calloway contacted me by email. He said he saw the video of the Perendev replication we (PerenTech) did, and that he had some tips on how to make it self-run. The implication was that he had figured this out and was willing to help me get mine to run as well. I then commenced an email and phone dialogue with him. After composing the material into a news story, I ran it by Robert for review, with a request that he give some kind of confirmation that he does indeed have a working device based on these instructions. Seeing some serious discrepancies in this about-face, I counted the story a loss, at least for then, and let it sit idle. Then this morning, Feb. 10, I received two emails from Robert. He said, "then just forget it. " Www.guerrelec.asso.fr/rubrique_historique/11_sans_photos.pdf. DIY Solar Power Sans panneaux photovoltaïques" I love it when people make things just to see if they can, especially alternative energy projects.

DIY Solar Power Sans panneaux photovoltaïques"

For most of us, making electricity from the sun means photovoltaic panels, but it seems there is another way to use solar power, and this DIY project shows you how. The point of this solar power experiment on Instructables was to try to build a system that creates electricity with the power of the sun and beats the cost per watt of commercially available solar panels.

The materials used are readily available via eBay or an electronic supply house, and consists of a Fresnel lens, a Peltier cell, and a CPU heatsink, plus some assorted other pieces (like rubber bands, foam, and black paint). The builder says "Yeah, this technology probably isn't ready for prime time. But it is interesting and very fun/cheap to make. Eco Homes: Solar Sheep – Hi-tech solar roof coupled with low-tech sheep wool insulation

Keeping up with its task to merging technology with biology, BIOS Architects has designed an ecofriendly, self-sufficient dwelling of tomorrow – The Solar Sheep. The portable dwelling is fully adaptable to the change in environment and climate due to the modular construction approach designed by BIOS. The modular dwelling is constructed using bamboo and harnesses solar energy and harvests rainwater for the inhabitants. The bamboo structure that gives the needed strength to the building holds a duo of hi-tech skins – an upper skin to harvest rainwater and generate solar electricity and a lower skin that carries removable tiles which are made of felted sheep’s wool. The floor is made up of 4’ X 8’ prefabricated panels that are based on the Japanese Tatami system. Via: BIOSArch Enjoyed this post?
