Interoute wins at Capacity Global Carrier Awards 2013. RealWire2013-11-21Interoute recognised for innovation of its product portfolio and network expansion London, 21 November 2013 - Interoute, owner operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform, has been named Best European Product or Service at the 2013 Capacity Global Carrier Awards. Interoute received the award at the Capacity Global Carrier Awards at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam on 19 November, where it was commended for the launch of its HD video conference solution, Interoute SmartPoint. Interoute impressed the judges with its continued investment in its network infrastructure, and commitment to adding innovative technologies to meet the ever increasing demand for new capacity.

The launch of 100G solutions across its Pan-European network and the expansion of its cloud service infrastructure both drew attention from Capacity's judges, but it was the launch of Interoute SmartPoint, that clinched the award. - Ends - Interoute offers 500Gbps long haul super channels ( - Networking ) Interoute is offering up to 500 Gigabit per second long haul data super channels across its pan-European network, thanks to an optical networking hardware deal with Infinera.

Interoute's network connects 102 cities in 30 countries, serving every major European national telecoms provider, says the network provider, which also carries the data of governments, universities, research agencies and large enterprises like football body Uefa and broadcaster Eurosport. Interoute is now using DTN-X switching hardware from Infinera. "The DTN-X system helps us win in the marketplace," said Jonathan Wright, vice president for service provider business at Interoute.

"Speed to deliver services is key in our industry. The DTN-X system combines OTN (optical transport network) switching and WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) transport technology in the same chassis, which eliminates the cost and complexity of interconnections between discrete WDM and OTN systems. Interoute Launches 100G Pan-European Network With Infinera DTN-X. Hachette lowers VPN costs with Interoute dark fibre.

French publisher Hachette Livre has gained economies of scale and lowered the price of the bandwidth it uses by leasing dark fibre from European cloud services operator Interoute. Hachette Livre’s head of ICT, Serge Bellier, said the cost was the same to lease dark fibre and operating it itself or to lease a line run at a limited speed from a major operator. The first solution was chosen because the company had the technical expertise to manage its own network and because it was more flexible and scalable. The network now carries 10 times more bandwidth over a single fibre pair than it did five years ago. The company needed only to change the cards and the technology used at the ends of the network to increase bandwidth over the same fibre pair.

The 1 Gbps link quickly changed into four 1 Gbps channels, then three 4 Gbps fibre channels and special IBM Fibre Channel (FICON), thanks to optical multiplexing. An Introduction to Fast Ethernet. The following article aims to provide an introduction to the concept of Fast Ethernet, what it is, a summary of how it works, and who can benefit from its implementation. The basic definition of Fast Ethernet is just that, fairly basic, in that it simply refers to Ethernet cables/connections which carry data at a rate faster than the original Ethernet speeds.

This original Ethernet typically carried data at speeds of 10Mbit/s (10,000,000 bits per second) whereas services that are described as Fast Ethernet can reach speeds of 100Mbit/s. In its stricter sense the term actually applies to a number of different standards which deliver this speed although more loosely it is also used to describe the standards which have superseded it with faster transfer rates, including Gigabit Ethernet (1,000,000,000 bits a second) and in the last few years, 10Gbit/s (10,000,000,000 bits a second). The various Fast Ethernet standards are known as 100BASE-[?] © Stuart Mitchell 2012. Fast Ethernet Network | Ethernet Connection. TUNISIANA and Orange Tunisia sign partnership agreement with Interoute for the deployment of submarine cable "Didon" connecting Tunisia to Europe. New fiber-optic submarine cable will use Alcatel-Lucent’s technology to boost capacity and reliability of connection internationally to meet growing demand for broadband services London, 16 May 2013 - Tunisiana and Orange Tunisia today announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Interoute , the owner operator of Europe’s largest next generation network, for the commissioning of a submarine cable, called Didon, connecting the city of Kélibia, Tunisia to Interoute’s pan European fiber optic network, via its landing station in Mazara del Vallo, Siciliy, Italy.

Didon, Tunisia’s first private submarine cable will cover nearly 170 km of optical fiber and be a real force for social development and economic growth for the country. The commissioning of the Didon cable is planned for April 2014 and its capacity will reach eight Terabit per second and per operator. Ken Campbell, CEO of TUNISIANA commented, “We are pleased to announce this important partnership.
