Quantified Self 2012 is a conference for users and tool makers interested in self-tracking systems. It will be a "working meeting" for the QS community (50 groups worldwide), where we will gather, inspire, and learn from each other as we share and collaborate on self-tracking projects . We will also explore the potential effects of self-tracking on ourselves and society. If you are an advanced user, designer, tech inventor, entrepreneur, journalist, scientist, or health professional, please join us for a weekend of collaboration and inspiration! Note: Our first two conferences sold out, so make sure to grab your spot and register today . Most of the conference will be hands-on and interactive, with user-defined workshops on mood, data visualization, sleep, ethics, and anything else people want to see.

Calendar | British Society for Research on Ageing
The Centre for Ageing Research is pleased to announce its first International Conference 'Ageing: Moving Beyond Boundaries', to be held at Lancaster University in the UK. The current and projected growth of older people over the coming decades is widely acknowledged as an issue that will have significant health, economic and policy implications not just at a global level, but nationally, regionally and locally. Advances in science and medicine together with the human and policy insights from the social sciences and the arts and humanities can and will make significant contributions to alleviating some of the worst impacts of mental and physiological ageing at both an individual and societal level. Critically, however, our best chance of success for addressing the so-called 'ageing time-bomb' lies in working toward common understandings of the key issues as well as developing trans-disciplinary solutions. This international conference represents a step toward this common goal.Ageing research is driven by the need to understand how we age and to increase healthy lifespan. However, the study of ageing also reveals novel molecular, genetic and cellular mechanisms important for wider understanding of basic biology. This meeting will highlight the most exciting recent advances in ageing research. It will discuss innovative techniques and the model organisms in which they are applied, and it will consider how understanding of basic bioscience contributes to, and benefits from research into ageing.

Reports and papers from that first meeting were published in Proteomics: Clinical Applications and Expert Reviews Proteomics . To enhance the insight into the translation of biomarkers into clinical practice that participants of the meeting will obtain, the meeting is drawing upon the expertise of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) through our scientific programme committee. The 2012 conference will focus on the attributes of successful biomarker translation, aspects of emerging quantitative biomarker assays in the clinical chemistry laboratory, as well as in vitro diagnostic development and regulatory considerations.
