Experimental Drawing (9780823016228): Robert Kaupelis: Books. Zdzisaw_Beksiski. The Week Light with Zdzisaw Beksiski Public Republic. Zdzisław Beksiński, 1984 I am obsessed with the process of creation. In my paintings I never use any “means”. I paint them completely naively, just as I would be taking photos of my own dreams. Zdzisław Beksiński, 1985 I consider creation as the only available way of fighting off the inevitability of passing away.

I have my own world, which if I paint it, can be a nightmare in your eyes. What I paint is above all else, a spiritual self-portrait of me. Zdzisław Beksiński, 1983 I quite simply have been trying from the very beginning to paint beautiful paintings. I never pick up ideas from outside sources such as literature or cinema. Zdzisław Beksiński, 1981 The beauty of the painting rests upon something inside of us that resonate or not with the painted thing. Meaning is meaningless to me. I cannot conceive of a sensible statement on painting. Art is one of the beautiful lies and I guess it is nothing more. Zdzisław Beksiński, 1980 There is an omnipresent aesthetic of elegance. James Cowan. Musical Warfare | Artist Features. Since I already posted about Cynthia’s Hell survey I should probably give some attention to her actual artwork.

Cynthia is the creative force behind ThornyThoughts Artwork, and lately she’s contributed artwork to bands like Urfaust, Self Inflicted Violence, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Aosoth, and a few others. She’s designed some pretty sweet band logos as well. Cynthia’s style is easily recognizable - her works are often in simple black & white and seem to be either etched or sometimes drawn with ink. As with Saint John’s work with Inkshadows, this style works perfectly in the context of black metal, so its no surprise that ThornyThoughts has become one of the main providers of artwork for Urfaust’s releases and merchandise.

It also helps that Cynthia’s imagination yields some particularly disturbing imagery, both beutiful and morbid at the same time. A great source of inspiration is probably failure and the chaos in my head. Lauren: Zdzisaw Beksiski. Zdzisław Beksiński was a Polish artist who was born in 1929 and died in 2005 and left a lasting impression in contemporary surrealism. Growing up in the midst of World War II and the German occupation of Poland doubtless influenced how he viewed the world; many of his works illustrate a fascination with barren landscapes and post-apocalyptic scenery. However, Beksiński did not get his start in the art world until the late 1950’s. Born in a small town in Poland, he studied commerce in secondary school.

In 1947, after Poland’s liberation from Germany and under pressure from his father, who was a surveyor, he entered the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology. Although Besiński had dreamed of attending film school, his father convinced him that construction was the most practical path in war-devastated Poland.

His earliest works were concentrated in photography and abstract plastic sculpture; in 1958 he began to show his work in exhibitions across Europe. Amp; Decision Maker. Beksiński was born in 1929 in Sanok. He was renowned Polish painter, photographer and fantasy artist. From 1947-1952 he studied in the architecture department at the Polytechnic in Kraków. Beksiński was interested in artistic photography, abstraction painting and drawing. In 1999 the Historical Museum prepared the largest retrospective exhibition by the artist at the castle in Sanok. ZDZISŁAW BEKSIŃSKI was born February 24, 1929 in Sanok. In 1977 Beksiński left Sanok and relocated permanently to Warsaw.

"The phenomenon of Beksiński’s creativity is connected first and foremost with manefestation, materialized in the artistic techniques of the subconscious forms which are certainly symbols of the artist’s internal experiences and, to a large extent, symbols of the state of the contemporary man’s soul. Wiesław Banach "The art of Zdzisław Beksiński has long provoked extreme and ambivalent emotions for many viewers. Joanna Zawierucha-Gomułka Agata Smalcerz. Keiko Tanabe - Blog: Swiss Landscapes. Geneva, Switzerland III Water from Lake Geneva flows into the Rhone River near here.

Wondering what it would be like to journey down the river all the way to the Mediterranean, I crossed the bridge to get to the Left Bank. There were many swans and ducks, and children were having fun feeding them. People, young and old, were relaxing in the lakeside park. Boats were neatly docked at harbor. And of course, there was blue sky and blue water. By the way, what is visible at the back of the boat, right-hand side, in this painting is Jet d'eau, Geneva's famous water fountain (459 feet in height!). Nicholas with a collection of pieces. Zdzislaw Beksinski. "It misses the point to ask me what scenes in my paintings 'mean'. Simply, I do not know, myself. Moreover, I am not at all interested in knowing. "--Zdzislaw Beksinski Zdzislaw Beksinski was born in Poland in the town of Sanok near the Carpathians Mountains in 1929. After a childhood was spent during the Second World War, Beksinski went on to university where he studied architecture in Cracow. Subsequent to this education he spent several years as a construction site supervisor, a job he hated, frought with pressures and countless boring details.

Beksinski eventually threw himself into painting with a passion, and worked constantly, always to the strains of classical music. Beksinski and his family moved to Warsaw in 1977. "I have quite simply been trying, from the very beginning, to paint beautiful paintings. " Drawings from the 1960s Beksinki's remarkable drawings possess a strength in both mood and subject matter. Paintings from the 1970s Paintings from the 1980s. Belle poque. A French poster from 1894 by Jules Chéret that captures the vibrant spirit of the Belle Époque. The Belle Époque or La Belle Époque (French pronunciation: [bɛlepɔk]; French for "Beautiful Era") was a period in French and Belgian history that is conventionally dated as starting in 1871 and ending when World War I began in 1914. Occurring during the era of the Third French Republic (beginning 1870), it was a period characterized by optimism, peace at home and in Europe, new technology and scientific discoveries.

The peace and prosperity in Paris allowed the arts to flourish, and many masterpieces of literature, music, theatre, and visual art gained recognition. The Belle Époque was named, in retrospect, when it began to be considered a "golden age" in contrast to the horrors of World War I. Popular culture and fashions[edit] It was not entirely the reality of life in Paris or in France, however. The Moulin Rouge cabaret is a Paris landmark still open for business today. Politics[edit] The Art Story: Fauvism Movement. "If the trees look yellow to the artist then painted a bright yellow they must be. " Synopsis Fauvism was the first twentieth-century movement in modern art. Inspired by the examples of van Gogh, Gauguin, Seurat, and Cézanne, it grew out of a loosely allied group of French painters with shared interests.

Henri Matisse was eventually recognized as the leader of Les Fauves, or "The Wild Beasts," and like the group, he emphasized the use of intense color as a vehicle for describing light and space, as well as for communicating the artist's emotional state. In these regards, Fauvism proved to be an important precursor to Cubism and Expressionism, respectively, and an inspiration for future modes of abstraction. Key Ideas Fauvism never developed into a coherent movement in the manner of Impressionism or Surrealism, but instead grew from the work of several acquaintances who shared common enthusiasms.

Beginnings Henri Matisse Develops His Style Concepts and Styles Color Structure Fauvism and Cubism. Maurice de Vlaminck. Maurice de Vlaminck (4 April 1876 – 11 October 1958) was a French painter. Along with André Derain and Henri Matisse he is considered one of the principal figures in the Fauve movement, a group of modern artists who from 1904 to 1908 were united in their use of intense colour.[1] Life[edit] Maurice de Vlaminck was born in Paris to a family of musicians. His father taught him to play the violin.[2] He began painting in his late teens. In 1893, he studied with a painter named Henri Rigalon on the Île de Chatou.[3] In 1894 he married Suzanne Berly.

The turning point in his life was a chance meeting on the train to Paris towards the end of his stint in the army. In 1911, Vlaminck traveled to London and painted by the Thames. Vlaminck died in Rueil-la-Gadelière on 11 October 1958. Artistic career[edit] Two of Vlaminck's groundbreaking paintings, Sur le zinc (At the Bar) and L'homme a la pipe (Man Smoking a Pipe) were painted in 1900.[2] Artistic influences[edit] Notes and references[edit] Andr Derain.
