Naomi Schware - STILLS. WATCH: Columbus photographer makes frozen bubbles. COLUMBUS (WCMH/CNN) – Mother Nature is providing an unusual, and beautiful sight. Columbus-based nature and landscape photographer Carey Sherrill posted a series of videos and photos on Instagram showing what happened when you blow a soap bubble in the cold. Sherrill says that sugar in the soap and water mix creates a crystal-like appearance as the bubble freezes. Sherrill provided a recipe for the bubble mixture: 200ml water (1 cup)35ml dish soap (2 Tbls)35ml corn syrup (2 Tbls)2 Tbls. Regular sugar Sherrill says it was two degrees Fahrenheit outside when he was able to record one of them freezing in under 60 seconds.

Master Yoda said some very wise words before he passed on to join Obi-Wan. I bet you didn’t think he was talking about photography, though, did you? Ok, so he might not have been guiding Luke in the ways of photography during his time on Dagobah, but his lessons are applicable. In this video, Marc Silber from Advancing Your Photography gives us his interpretation of Yoda’s wisdom, and how it relates to photography. “Do, or do not. There is no try” Don’t try to be a photographer. “You fail because you don’t believe” This is so true.

Believe in yourself, and you’ll go a lot further than if you don’t. “You will find only what you bring in” As Marc says, photography is not a spectator sport. Every day we hear about the “entitled” generation who expect things handed to them on a silver plate. “Control, control, you must learn control” And this isn’t just about learning how to shoot in manual mode, either. But, as touched upon with a couple of the earlier quotes. Pro Photography Resources for Photoshop | Elements | Lightroom. Login - ViewBug.com. Thank you for installing PaintShop Pro. Weekly Photo Tips. Long Exposure Photography Tips | Night Photography Tips. Photographing the Ferris Wheel To photograph a Ferris wheel at night, move close and use a wide-angle lens to get as much detail as possible. Place your camera on a tripod and frame the image. Because we want all the elements to be sharp, choose a small aperture between f/11-f/32. Set your camera to either Manual or TV (Shutter Priority) mode and choose a shutter speed according to the speed of the lighted Ferris wheel, and the style you are after (anywhere between 1-30 seconds).

You should take the image using the camera’s self timer or a cable release so that you avoid touching and jiggling the camera. The image captured will be full of light trails against a black sky, yet the center beams that hold the wheel will be sharp. About Digital Photography School - Digital Photography School. Welcome to Digital Photography School – one of the most popular and longest running blogs on the web about photography. Founder Darren Rowse is a digital photography enthusiast who created the site to share tips for photographers who want to get the most out of their cameras.

“I previously owned and operated a digital camera review site – and over two years I had a lot of emails from readers asking for tips on how to use their cameras. I came to the conclusion that while there are many millions of cameras being bought each year around the world, a very large number of people could be using their cameras to achieve better results. I’d written a number of ‘tips’ articles over the past couple of years but my focus was mostly on cameras. As a result I wanted to start a site dedicated purely to ‘how to’ tips.” And so Digital Photography School (dPS) was born in 2006. This ‘School’ is not a formal one by any means. Also, unlike most schools, the information here is free. Online Training and Job Search Solutions. 10+ Of The Most Epic Long Exposure Shots Ever. Usually, we are viewing photos that capture a short moment in time, but these pictures are completely different.

The intent of long exposure photography is to create an image that highlights the effect of passing time. There is no fixed definition of what constitutes "long" because a 30-minute picture of a static object might not be distinguishable from a short exposure. Therefore, the inclusion of motion (mostly through light) is the main factor that adds intrigue to these images. The histogram is a useful but often misunderstood tool that your camera provides to help you get the correct exposure on your images. In this article we’re going to look at how to read it and use it to your advantage to help you do just that. Getting the best exposure (there is not such thing as the “correct” exposure, as it’s all subjective) in camera should be your goal every time you click the shutter.

Using these tips should help you increase your success rate. What is a histogram? Dictionary definition: A bar graph of a frequency distribution in which the widths of the bars are proportional to the classes into which the variable has been divided and the heights of the bars are proportional to the class frequencies. There are no fixed rules in photography, but there are guidelines which can often help you to enhance the impact of your photos. It may sound clichéd, but the only rule in photography is that there are no rules. However, there are are number of established composition guidelines which can be applied in almost any situation, to enhance the impact of a scene.

These guidelines will help you take more compelling photographs, lending them a natural balance, drawing attention to the important parts of the scene, or leading the viewer's eye through the image. Once you are familiar with these composition tips, you'll be surprised at just how universal most of them are. You'll spot them everywhere, and you'll find it easy to see why some photos "work" while others feel like simple snapshots. Rule of Thirds Imagine that your image is divided into 9 equal segments by 2 vertical and 2 horizontal lines. Doing so will add balance and interest to your photo.
