5 Websites That Help You Find National & Local Newspapers Published Around the World

Will newspapers survive or will they end up as fish wrapper? Even now, when information is just a keyword away, newspapers have retained their charm. We may not flip the paper pages as often, but we do click on their online ones. With online newspaper websites we can connect to other sources of information that can make us see a news story in a different way. With a click we can see what’s happening in some other part of the world. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-websites-find-national-local-newspapers-published-world/

Super Eco: This planet means the world to us.

Super Eco launched in January of 2009 on an early version of our publishing platform. It was a great learning experience. Thanks to a great editorial team we were able to improve our Crowd Fusion platform , which now powers large scale websites like TMZ and applications like News Corp's The Daily. Even though we are shutting Super Eco down, we still care about our planet and get our green news fix from those great sites below.

Newspapers and Thinking the Unthinkable « Clay Shirky

Back in 1993, the Knight-Ridder newspaper chain began investigating piracy of Dave Barry’s popular column, which was published by the Miami Herald and syndicated widely. In the course of tracking down the sources of unlicensed distribution, they found many things, including the copying of his column to alt.fan.dave_barry on usenet; a 2000-person strong mailing list also reading pirated versions; and a teenager in the Midwest who was doing some of the copying himself, because he loved Barry’s work so much he wanted everybody to be able to read it. One of the people I was hanging around with online back then was Gordy Thompson, who managed internet services at the New York Times. I remember Thompson saying something to the effect of “When a 14 year old kid can blow up your business in his spare time, not because he hates you but because he loves you, then you got a problem.” I think about that conversation a lot these days.

How to Use Google News Timeline as an RSS Reader

Google News Timeline is an interesting tool where you can browse historical events, current news, movie releases and other kinds of information in a graphical timeline. For instance, you can search for TIME magazine on Google News Timeline and it will display a list of all issues of the magazine in chronological order (arranged by date). Click any of the TIME covers to open the corresponding issue on the TIME website. For researching current events, you can select News from the drop-down, type in some topic (e.g. india-pakistan ) and hit go to read what the mainstream media has published about the topics in all these years.
