Dissipate - "Motion" [Free Download] The Skinny: Basick Records is proud to announce the latest addition to their growing international roster, American tech metallers Dissipate.

There is absolutely no doubting that California's Dissipate have a hell of a lot of noise to bring to the table. Showcasing genre-blending versatility, this is forward-thinking music that combines the percussive riffing and crushing precision of death metal, served with a brutal metal core edge. Think a heavier Ion Dissonance with an arse-grabbing of Car Bomb and a slight hint of Deftones in places. The band’s debut release, Tectonics, is set to be released worldwide on November 19th and smashes its way through six raw tracks of complex and virulent 8 string guitar work with soaring experimental interludes which are all brought together under the strain of vitriolic and seething vocals. A Familiar Face Graces Swedish Doom Metal Band, Draconian. Metal4Africa.com » » A Familiar Face Graces Swedish Doom Metal Band, Draconian First off: “What the hell is doom?” I hear some of you ask, “Is it something to do with a computer game?”

Doom metal is a sub-genre that enjoys very little appreciation in South African territory, with only a small but fiercely loyal fan-base. Regardless, we’ve still seen our own pittance share of local doom acts over the years, particularly during what one might describe as the doom ‘heyday’ of the mid-nineties. Amongst the humble ranks of doom fans residing in South Africa, there cannot be one who does not know and love the Swedish band Draconian. Descendant of German grandparents who immigrated to Southern Africa as means to escape the turmoil of wartime Europe, Heike grew up her whole life of African-born parents in the Southern-most city of Cape Town.

At this point in our chat, I wanted to learn more about Heike’s Lorelei project. Of course, there is always the good, the bad, and the ugly. Metal4Africa.com » » Instrametal – The Catalyst to Chaos Review Instrametal is a four piece melodic music beast that hails from Johannesburg, that employs the services of Lord Onyr (Spectral Realm) on keyboard when they play live and according to them, “The human race is losing the plot.”

The Catalyst to Chaos is their second album and sees them writing very melodic metal to accompany their concept which includes “malicious intent for self gain”. What I found very virtuous was that they decided to create an album that was done professionally enough to be sold in a CD store, but to still be independent from record labels. There’s a noticeable improvement on the quality of the production from their first offering, The Flesh Catastrophe. To achieve the sound on the album, they got in sound engineer Allen Purkiss to give a helping hand in the recording and production of the album. I leave you with the following poem from the cover: “Take a moment and observe mankind’s destructive ways. From Farm to ‘Force and Beyond – An Interview With ZP Theart.

Terminatryx Music Video Making Waves on International Shores. Metal4Africa.com » » Terminatryx Music Video Making Waves on International Shores It is not uncommon for internationally screened music videos to have been shot in South Africa. Normally, the concept and music is the work of overseas producers, simply exploiting the financial advantages of shooting in SA. This time the product is 100% South African! Cape Town Industrial/Metal/Alternative/Experimental act, Terminatryx, have impressed thousands with their locally produced video of the song “Virus” from their self-titled album.

Since appearing online on February 1st, by March 30th the video has already clocked up to over 9000 views and attracted international attentions with the Sci-Fi London Film Festival requesting it’s screening, and the Seattle International Film Festival requesting the extended short film version “Marked” for consideration even before its completion. More detailed information about the video can be found at the band’s website www.terminatryx.com , or view it here: Cold Hand Chemistry Release Video For Angel Suicide. Metal4Africa.com » » Cold Hand Chemistry Release Video For Angel Suicide Female-fronted symphonic metallers, Cold Hand Chemistry, released their first music video yesterday for “Angel Suicide” off their debut album The Gathering Crows.

The song is also the second single off the full length. The video was shot by Ruan Lotter of Tunnelvizion Productions over two days in April; first at an abandoned lion’s den (that used to belong to Cecil John Rhodes) and then in a derelict school in Riebeek West in the Cape Winelands. It’s great to see a music video with plenty of South African history behind it.

According to vocalist Chantel Smit, the concept behind the video is “based around the hunted and the hunter and being trapped.” It features a damsel in distress stalked by four masked men until “self-realization of one’s inner-strength finds a way to escape such situation.” Watch Angel Suicide below: What do you think of the video? RAMfest in Review. Metal4Africa.com » » RAMfest in Review RAMfest has been and gone, but certainly is not forgotten in the minds of everyone who attended. The Metal4Africa stage was an absolute riot with a stellar sound and lighting rig, as well as a great and varied selection of bands.

Two stalwarts of the Cape Town metal community, George van der Riet and Pieter Roodt give their opinions on the acts that they caught on the weekend that was. It’s Friday night, the drink has been flowing, and I find myself piggy-backing on a friend, running down to the metal tent with the “Death Groove Mvng Cvlt” of A Walk With With Wicked trailing behind to go and support veteran death metallers Mind Assault. Mind Assault I left the tent with my neck thoroughly aching and my mind very much assaulted.

Tombstone Pete was a rare gem in the metal tent, and a very good start to Saturday’s proceedings. Haggis and Bong Every now and then a band comes out of nowhere and just blows your mind.
