Here’s the summary, “It was once the source of life, light and warmth. But now the sun has turned the entire world into a baked and barren wasteland. Forests are scorched. Animal carcasses line the roads.

Hoping to hop on the apocalyptic bandwagon that will surely never get annoying in 2012, Sony Pictures has entered into negotiations to finance and distribute The Apocalypse , an end of days comedy marking the directorial debut of Seth Rogen. Written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg from a story by Jason Stone , the pic was inspired by a short film called Jay and Seth vs The Apocalypse . In it, Rogen and Jay Baruchel play their real life selves while they ride out the end of the world in their apartment.

Terrorism may be about ideology, its also about idiots. In a British city, four men have a secret plan. Omar (Riz Ahmed) is disillusioned about the treatment of Muslims around the world and is determined to become a soldier. This is the most exciting idea Waj (Kayvan Novak) has ever heard.
The Kitchen Sink was described as one of the most exciting scripts of 2010 when it made it onto Hollywoods now infamous “Black List” (a list of Hollywood’s best unproduced scripts.) The basic premise is that a bunch of high school kids are on the run from zombies, however the zombies are also being hunted down by vampires and just as things are coming to a head between them all an alien invasion begins, forcing the three groups to band together to defend the planet. The movie which has been described as a “ The Breakfast Club meets Zombieland ,” was penned by screenwriter Oren Uziel and the last we heard Jonah Hill was set to make his directorial debut on the project, however it’s now been confirmed that it will be the second film fledgling indie director Robbie Pickering ( pictured above ) will direct. I haven’t seen Robbie Pickering’s debut movie Natural Selection but I’ve heard good things and I’m already excited about The Kitchen Sink based on the premise alone.
After years of rumour and speculation Warner Bros has finally bit the bullet and set wheels in motion that will eventually see a follow up to the 2007 movie I Am Legend . A deal with Overbrook Entertainment has just been finalised that should see Will Smith return as Dr Robert Neville. Arash Amel has also signed on to write the script that has not yet been described as a prequel; which most of the earlier rumours suggested, either way it’s expected that Will Smith will not make a decision until the script is completed. I’m not sure how there could be a continuation of the story that would include Will Smith seen as his character died in the first movie, so my money is on this being a prequel.

Matthew Simmons/Getty Images Disney is developing an adventure movie project inspired by the Matterhorn ride and has set Jason Dean Hall to pen the script. Justin Springer ( Tron Legacy, Prom ) is producing the project, which has a working title of The Hill . The Matterhorn, also known as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, is part of Disneyland’s Fantasyland section. Opened June 1959, the elaborate ride was inspired by Walt Disney 's desire for a toboggan-themed roller coaster as well as thoughts he had after an extended trip to Switzerland, the site of the famed mountain. The ride, a centerpiece of the park, was refurbished in 1978, with one of the upgrades being the addition of three automatronic Abominable Snowmen (aka Yetis) who growl at riders.
Exactly why anyone would want to remake something as deliciously simple and gleefully violent as Sam Raimi’s classic 1981 debut, The Evil Dead, is open to debate. But with the Evil Dead name now a bona fide franchise, spawning a spin-off stage musical and various comic books, it was inevitable, we suppose, that someone would come up with the idea of remaking the original film sooner or later. A sequel to 1992’s Army Of Darkness has been talked about for years, but the possibility of a proper fourth Evil Dead movie, with star Bruce Campbell at the helm, seems to be dwindling. Instead, Campbell and Raimi appear to be directing their energies into the Evil Dead remake, which is currently scheduled for release in 2013.
Rodrigo Cortes’ Red Lights , the supernatural thriller starring Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, and Cillian Murphy, had its world premiere last week at the still ongoing Sundance Film Festival . Word of mouth on the film is mixed, with Mr. Disgusting coming down on the side of not being a fan. A new clip from the film emerged today so you can now watch Elizabeth Olsen and Sigourney Weaver in a car scoping people, if that’s how you want to spend the next 90 seconds of your day. “ In the film, De Niro stars as Simon Silver, a legendary psychic, perhaps the most famously gifted of all time, who returns after thirty years of mysterious absence to become the world’s greatest challenge to orthodox science and professional skeptics. Meanwhile, paranormal fraud investigator Tom (Murphy) begins to develop a dense obsession Silver, whose magnetism is enhanced dangerously with each new manifestation of inexplicable phenomena. ”
Friday, February 10th, 2012 at 2:45pm Robert Rodriguez’s Machete sequel Machete Kills might have just been officially announced , but ComingSoon.net already scored a poster for the film featuring star Danny Trejo. The poster was created to hype the film this week at Berlin’s European Film Market. The second film to feature Trejo’s Machete character — third if you count the then-fake trailer played during Grindhouse — ups the stakes by sending our hero against a pair of James Bondian megalomaniacs building a weapon that can attack earth from space. Considering the potential third film is called Machete Kills Again … in Space!
