Snell's Window
By Martin Edge ‘Snell’s window’ was named after the Dutch mathematician, Willebrod Van Roigen Snell, who lived between 1580 and 1662.
We are now well into the digital era, and there have been some dramatic changes to underwater photography that have made it very accessible. What was once a very expensive niche hobby, pursued only by the most determined and passionate individuals, has now become an activity that can be enjoyed by the masses. As a result, the number of properly exposed, sharply focused, and well-composed images is growing rapidly.

The Our World Underwater international underwater photography and video competition has become known as the "Superbowl" of underwater imaging events. The competition celebrates and highlights both art of underwater photography as well as the beauty of the ocean.

The first part of this page contains a link my portfolio, a selection of 100 of my photographs put together in February 2011. If you like what you see please feel free to explore the more extensive trip and feature galleries below (my favourite photos are not necessarily going to be yours!). Dividing images up by trips makes sense for me adding new images, but it means that if you are interested in particular subjects or locations it means that you will probably have to look at several galleries.
