ABCD , as an integrated package for library automation (both traditional but also digital/virtual libraries !) and a tool for documentation centers, is the culmination of several technologies developed by BIREME (OPS/PAHO, Brazil). These technologies support their online information services and have been developed over many years, involving many experts. The package contains an advanced database management (both creation/definition and data-entry/cataloging) module, an OPAC integrated into a 'library portal' page with meta-search functionality for either local or remote databases (iAH), a Serials Control module (SeCS), a module for Circulation and Statistics, a Thesaurus Manager and - to be added later - an Acquisition module. The software heavily relies on ISIS-database technology (developed by UNESCO, http://www.unesco.org/isis , and BIREME, http://bvsmodelo.bvsalud.org/php/level.php?

The Millennium integrated library system (ILS) offers libraries the most complete and continuously evolving solution on the market. While others have abandoned integration or pushed technology fads, we’ve never lost sight of the services libraries provide and the means to make those processes work. Millennium’s multi-tier, client-server architecture is broad, stable, and includes what libraries need to meet their most pressing technology challenges. Innovative designed Millennium not just for libraries, but also for librarians. Millennium’s modules reliably support simple, everyday library transactions while at the same time meeting the demands of the most sophisticated cataloger, circulation manager, or web librarian.
Cataloging with Authority Control: Offers catalogers a sophisticated cataloging tool that is seamlessly integrated with the online public access catalog. Full MARC Authority controls allow your library to establish the authoritative form for a particular author, subject, or title heading. Users have the option to import existing records or create their own. Circulation with Inventory Control: Complete management of all circulation activities, including patron-initiated requests. Exceptional flexibility allows you to set your circulation policies for all possible combinations of material type, patron type and location. InfoStation Reporting: InfoStation, Virtua’s web-reporting tool offers an easy-to-use Web interface from which you can access, configure and customize reports.
