TrackBack URL for this entry: Tutorial ~ Zippered and Slip Pocket Tutorial. Many of you know Autum from her fabulous creations and her blog, Creative Little Daisy.

We’ve long enjoyed Autum’s sewing and asked if we could share her tutorial on Patchwork Bags early this year. For Bag Month we asked Autum to share a bit of her sewing expertise with us in the form of a tutorial on pockets for bags, and she’s done around four tutorials! Autum’s an amazing and generous seamstress! Today she’s teaching us all about Zippered Pockets, Slip Pockets and offers a bonus tutorial on Inserting a Magnetic Clasp. Tomorrow we’ll delve into linings. You won’t believe the wealth of knowledge that follows. Enjoy Autum’s tutorials below and let’s all thank her for her hard work! Zippered Pocket Tutorial One of the biggest phobias of sewing is the dreaded zipper. Find the center (side to side) of your lining piece and your pocket piece. I’ve found the easiest way to determine the center is first fold the lining piece in half, side to side and make a crease with your fingernail.

Tutorial ~ Lining Tutorials. Autum from Creative Little Daisy‘s done it again (You didn’t miss her Zippered and Slip Pocket Tutorials, did you?)! Here are two different ways to add a lining to a bag, brought to you by Autum: Lining Tutorial, number one There are various ways to put a lining in a bag; I am going to try to describe two methods I use.

The first method involves simply inserting the lining into the bag and finishing the raw edges with a binding. You could use this method with most any style of purse; the one I’m making is a gusseted purse with a rounded bottom. First cut out all your bag and lining pieces and interface as desired. The type of interfacing you use is a matter of personal preference and can vary depending on the style of bag you are making. Assemble outer bag and lining. Insert lining into outer bag, wrong sides together. Stitch around the top of the bag about ¼ inch from the raw edge. Begin stitching about a couple of inches away from the folded end using 3/8 inch seam allowance. Round-Ups. Cat bag. Small bag of lying cat. Cut cloth. Add seam allowance.

Sew up each parts. Unsew the openings. Attach strap and fastener (20cm) to the outer pouch.Turn inside out. Stuff polyester fiberfill a little in the head.Close the opening. Embroider the eyes, the nose and whiskers. Sew the head and the hind leg to the body. Sew the end of the tail to the body.Sew the lining to the fastener. Pattern.
