The Top 50 Essential Non-Fiction Books for Weirdos | Geez Pete. The Best Sports Journalism Ever (According to Bill Simmons) By C. Max Magee posted at 7:21 am on October 12, 2008 12 I’m still fairly new to reading ESPN’s Bill Simmons (and despite his relentless Boston boosterism, I get a kick out of his columns). One reason is that he has some interests beyond the ballfield, quite rare for folks who make a living in sports punditry, and contained within his columns, you’ll sometimes find gems like the list of “best sports pieces ever written” that he dropped into his “Mailbag” this week.

The list is really terrific, and, as much because I want to remember it as I do share it with you, I decided to try to find links to some of these pieces online (or at least to the books that contain them). Simmons put the list together after a fan asked him whether his recent footnote-adorned column on Manny Ramirez was in tribute to David Foster Wallace. So, literary sports fans, do you have any you want to add to this list? See Also: The New New Journalists, Football Books: A Best Sports Writing Addendum. Should we really listen to others or trust our own instincts and do what we want?

I think I care too much about what people think or say about me. I think I read into people's reactions too much instead of being able to judge my own feelings about things. Recently my roommate has had an issue with me which she just brought to my attention even though we've been living for a month now. We were completely thinking different things about each other, she was trying to be cold to me and steer me away while I was trying to be friendly to her. Maybe the reason I was being friendly to her was because I thought she was quiet and shy. We had a conversation about what was bothering her which was me being extremely inconsiderate about things and not doing things she had asked before, continually repeating that I just didn't get it.

Is it strange to laugh when other people get upset about tiny little things? My point is she got so upset over something so small, and so trivial. Is it best to try to ignore other people's reactions to things? Kissing Suzy Kolber » Blog Archive » Commenter Mock Drafts: The Best of Fast Food | kissingsuzykolber.com. A decade ago no one would've believed that we'd be buying suits online, but the truth is, there are countless opportunities to boost your wardrobe on the web. "You can save 20% to 50% by buying online," says Michael Lubarsky, contributing fashion writer for AskMen.com.

Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love eBay The auction site eBay is packed with objects purported to be ancient, like this "XTREME! " Moche-style ceramic vessel. A little over a decade ago, archaeologists experienced a collective nightmare--the emergence of eBay, the Internet auction site that, among other things, lets people sell looted artifacts. The black market for antiquities has existed for centuries, of course, with devastating consequences for the world's cultural heritage. But we could at least take some comfort that it was largely confined to either high-end dealers on one end of the economic spectrum or rural flea markets on the other. The sheer physical constraints of transporting and selling illegal artifacts kept the market relatively small.

But the rise of online auction sites promised to drastically alter the landscape. Back in the pre-eBay days, the cost of acquiring and selling an antiquity was high. How is it possible? But the high-enders are indeed affected. Let's Watch Documentaries! Tales from the Boobie Bar. Mafia control of NYC services. How would you get rid of a body? : AskReddit.
