Gary Chang , a talented architect from Hong Kong, has equipped his tiny 330 square foot apartment with a sliding wall system that allows him to create 24 different room configurations. As the suspended wall units are shifted around, the apartment transforms into a kitchen, library, laundry room, dressing room, an enclosed dining area or a lounge with a hammock. Old Concrete Factory Converted to Modern Castle Home

25 years ago, a Spanish architect, namely Ricardo Bofill , came across a deteriorating old cement factory. The site was home to rotting silos, vast and varied spaces, and unused building equipment. Where most people would see ruin, Ricardo saw potential. http://gbcmag.com/2011/02/07/old-concrete-factory-converted-to-modern-castle-home/

This is the photo that got me busy writing this ideabook. I had never before seen a glass-sided bathtub, and this one completely appeals to my minimalist tendencies. The architect, David Stern, says the client wanted this custom made tub for the kids bathroom and wanted it to feel fresh and fun. Well, he succeeded. http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/460546/list/19-Dream-Tubs-for-Bath-Lovers/

http://www.treehugger.com/sustainable-product-design/less-is-the-new-more-making-the-most-of-small-spaces.html Good Design For Living in Small Apartments As people migrate to smaller spaces, good design helps a lot. This is something they figured out in Europe long ago, that if you don't have a lot of horizontal room you can go vertical. Tumidei in Italy makes some of the nicest stuff, like this unit with lots of storage under the bed. This unit just raises the floor high enough for beds to slide under. This one looks a bit clinical, but has two single beds plus a pull-out double bed in between.

Casa De La Flora Resort Opens In Thailand «

We have had our eyes on Casa De La Flora for quite some time now, patiently anticipating the first glimpse of the new resort on the sands of Thailand. Leading the VaSLab Architects design team was co-founders Vasu Virajsilp and Boonlert Deeyuen, who worked closely with Casa De La Flora owner Sompong Dowpiset to give a tropical retreat a contemporary and cutting edge perspective. Each villa is complete with a private pool, a small garden, seaside view, and a 24-hour butler service. The layout of the 36 villa resort is designed to provide each guest ample privacy while maximizing their view. VaSLab achieved the balance by designing each villa as a monolithic rectangular frame structure with floor to ceiling glass windows. http://knstrct.com/2011/05/22/casa-de-la-flora-resort-opens-in-thailand/
