Meditating on the self as a soul , we start to experience the power of true silence, which is sweet, peaceful, rich and powerful. It is the ‘language of the soul’, being able to feel supremely comfortable and stable. When we are touching the ‘heart’ of our selves we are light and vibrant...we are silent. Vital silence Silence is the fertile space for natural expression of our inner goodness as well as the space where new and powerful ideas can emerge. The Real and the Eternal Living our life without pressing the pause button is like playing music without any silence between the notes. J-a-m practice: The Power of Pause In the silent pause we are putting a brake on the doing , the thinking and the speaking, we are giving ourselves space and time to be attentive, to observe the traffic of our daily life.

What set this project apart was that all of the places featured were places she’d never actually visited. Since then, the project, known as Places I Have Never Been, has taken off. (Read more about the project in the Sidelines column of HOW’s May 2013 issue.) Each year, Hill selects a dozen cities from around the world to visually explore in patterns that capture the sights, sounds and symbolism of these places, as far-flung as Kilimanjaro, Tanzania or as obscure as Franconia, NH. In creating each poster design, she researches what it is that sets each of these towns apart, what typifies them or captures the spirit of each spot.
Old Finnish People With Things On Their Heads. Almost a year ago I discovered this photo series at Kiasma – The Museum of Modern Art in Helsinki, Finland.
Photographers, Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen came up with something truly peculiar and special, in their photo series Eyes As Big As Plates. Their subjects are old, super serious and Finnish, all while wearing ridiculous “organic” head pieces and attire…need I say more?

For Malians, most single items find a multiple uses, and something as simple as a chair dragged over to a friend or family member for conversation is the only thing one needs for endless entertainment. Designed by Kix Studio, the Mousso Koroba rocking chair recovers discarded plastic bags and transforms them into a new piece of immeasurable use. Costing just 26 dollars (the price of a standard local chair), this colorful rocker speaks to each the Malian way of life, the local people’s needs and environmental concerns.
Primarily using ropes twisted from recycled plastic bags, each chair gives way to a form fitting shape that’s both durable, elastic and economical. Its simple frame features two rings that rotate around an axis, enabling the rocking chair to be easily be folded, transported and stored. . + Kix. Kamus.net. New Project! – Science Gossip. I’m delighted to announce a fantastic new project from the team at the Zooniverse – Science Gossip In the Victorian period, just like today, scientists and members of the public worked together to further scientific discovery.
Before computers and cameras they had to draw what they saw. Their drawings are locked away in the pages of Victorian periodicals and books, such as Science Gossip, Recreative Science and The Intellectual Observer. The ultimate goal of this new project is to understand the roots of citizen science. This is the first Zooniverse project where citizen scientists are both the researchers and the subject of the research.
