The NOT $200 Acorn and Pompom Hat - KNITTING. I call it the "Acorn and Pompom" hat because I think it kind of looks like an acorn, and, well, check out those pompoms. I created this hat for a friend who sent me a page from a magazine of a woman wearing a similar hat that was selling for $200. $200?! The challenge was on. I used a bulky acrylic yarn that was very wool-like in its texture rather than wool (due to an allergy issue). I knit the flap first in garter, about 4 inches, then changed to stockinette for the top of the hat and made 8 cables around, narrowing to the center, about 7 inches.

I love this hat. Thanks for Looking! Warm winter pom pom hat. Brooke's Column of Leaves Knitted Scarf Pattern. Printer-friendly version(includes charted pattern) My original scarf was made with Mountain Colors 4/8 Wool, a worsted weight yarn, on size 7 needles. But you can do this on any size yarn and needles you want - even lace weight yarn. This pattern is very easy to memorize after a few repeats, making for quick and fun work. And don't forget to block it after you're done! That is the key step in making the leaf pattern lie flat and become really defined. Yarn: I used one and a half skeins of Mountain Colors 4/8s wool, which is worsted weight and has 250 yds per 100 gm skein.

So that would be about 375 yards of worsted weight yarn. Dimensions: With a worsted weight yarn, the scarf is approximately 6 inches wide and 73 inches long.
