I have fallen in love with silhouettes. You have seen them everywhere…on plates, in frames, on cards, and on pillows. Speaking of pillows…I added a little spin on them with chalkboard fabric.
I saw these pillows first on Pinterest.
I’ve been “hired” by my younger brother Nate to upgrade his bedroom in his bachelor pad that he shares with his roommates in San Francisco. One of the projects I’m working on is a fabric covered headboard. When I was at Joann’s Fabrics over the weekend, something in the clearance rack popped right out at me: some suit fabric on sale for $5 dollars a yard. Score !
Want a little insight into what my husband signed up for when he said "I do"? I've had a box squirreled away in the bottom of the closet for the past three years. Every time my husband has announced that he's going to sort through his clothes and get rid of old items, I'd hover over him like a ravenous vulture circling a horse carcass.
Dear Chicago House,
this fun project comes from d*s reader anneli martin of bird and lard . anneli had an old bed linen and a duvet cover that she didn’t want to throw away, so she cut them into one inch strips and crocheted these two giant floor pillows. i think the result is fantastic, and definitely a great way to spend a cold winter day indoors. anneli was kind enough to share the full project steps after the jump- happy crocheting! CLICK HERE for the full project steps for anneli’s rag pillows Anneli’s Rag Pillows Materials : -1 old cotton bed sheet or a fitted sheet -1 10mm crochet needle -Scissors -Matching fabric for the pillow -Sewing machine -Stuffing -Matching thread -Needle
I saw a pillow just like this one at Crate and Barrel right before Christmas, and haven’t been able to get it out of my mind.
Big pillows may be readily available, but what if you long for custom accessories that won't break your bank? My mock boxed cushions stuffed with standard bed pillows are so inexpensive and easy to make, you'll never want mass produced again. Once you make one, it only takes about 30 minutes to put the next one together. This project goes so fast, you can knock out 3 or 4 before noon, clean up your apartment and be ready for guests by 7:00. This is a clever way to bring unexpected color and pattern into your room.
Tired of normal square or rectangle pillow in your house? Why not spruce up your home decor with this safety sign triangle throw pillow. I got a triangle pillow form / pillow insert from Downlite and happy to see how good the quality is, especially the blended feather and down filling, and the polka-dot lining.
I know Valentine’s Day is coming soon and I see stuff all over Blog Land, but I am really enjoying winter this year! I like the white stuff!! I guess this is also my own small rebellion. Well, that, and the fact that I have never really gotten into Valentine’s Day. I have a few heart crafts lurking in my brain, but I am still enjoying winter too much to bring them out yet! I saw a gorgeous stocking in a catalog at Christmas time.
January 16th, 2012 Have you tried fabric markers yet? I finally got around to it, and they work great.
Puff is the Norwegian word for stool. We really liked the pouf from Christien Meinderstsma , but it´s way out of our price range. This simple pattern for a knitted stool has much thinner yarn, but the budget is just as thin;) Nice to rest your legs on, and very popular for the kids. What we used: Eskimo, 18 balls (Or yarn suitable for US #13 needles) Acrylic yarn would probably be a really good alternative, as it´s a piece of furniture US #19 circular needles 2 cheap duves (feather and down) How we did it: Cast on 35 stitches using three threads.
Add a burst of color to your room with this crafty pouf! At 17” wide and 10” deep, it’s large enough to serve as floor seating or a foot stool. (And if you have pets, I have a feeling they may want to make this their new favorite spot!)
Featured: Square Tufted Box Pillows by Restoration Hardware Young or old, few ever outgrow the love of laying on the floor while visiting or watching television. What you need are some big comfy floor pillows that you can use for those times when the gang is over at your house and there is no room on the couch. If the pillows are big enough (24 to 36 inches) they can also be seat cushions around a big coffee table for the overflow from the dining room.
