Survivals. Do they really pay people to live in Alaska. I live in Alaska. We do not have a state tax. The state does collect a small percentage of the oil sales and it is invested in a 'Permenent Fund'. Each year the interest is divided among all Alaskan - last year was about $1600 per person. Since this dividend is tied into the interest, and the fund is tied into the stock market - it can vary from $800 to $1800 each year. To get this dividend you need to sign a statement that you plan to live in Alaska forever. If you and your family collects it for a few years and then move out - the state of Alaska will hunt you down and granish your wages to get the $35,000 or so back. Most large companies that hire skilled workers will pay to move them and their family up - not much different than what the military does for their people all the time. Hope this helps. We guestimate that about 80% of the companies there were promoting some kind of green story – in a varying shades, of course.
