In the early 1970's, an Albanian musician named Sherif Meidana sang a Beatles song at a music festival. The song was "Let it Be." To us, that might seem like a typical event, but Meidana was imprisoned for 20 years as a result. In the eyes of a totalitarian state, the crime Meidana committed was unpardonable. Because he did not apply for the proper governmental permissions, he did not have the right to share this song with the audience.
