Comparative numeracy. Marketing. Ancesters. Nature by Numbers. Blog Archive » The Fibonacci Spiral. I don’t consider myself just a scrapbooker, photographer or designer. I consider myself an artist. It is not just cause I went to art school or that I like to create or that I appreciate art. Maybe it is all of these mixed together and maybe some other things mixed in there that I cannot explain. I see so many creative things around that inspire me. Unfamiliar with the Fibonacci Spiral? The Fibonacci Spiral is created by drawing arcs connecting the opposite corners of squares in the Fibonacci tiling. 1 1 + 1 = 2 2 + 1 = 3 3 + 2 = 5 5 + 3 = 8 8 + 5 = 13 13 + 8 = 21 21 + 13 = 34 and so on. While I must admit I really don’t care about the math I did want to include that part in my post so you at least have some knowledge of what I’m talking about.

Naturally these images and this spiral concept can bring so much to the imagination! You can download this template for free here. Below is the layout that I made. Are there things in art, nature or life that inspire you?

Make your own infographics. Infographics (or Information Graphics) are graphic visual representations of data or information, presented in a way to make it easier to consume information. Infographics gained popularity in the mid-2000′s with the advent of sites like Digg and Reddit, and have quickly become one of the most popular methods to display researched data.

There are three main types of infographics – where data is presented in a timeline, where statistical data is presented in graphs or with icons, or where data is presented on a map. In order to create an infographic which will be widely shared, think about your typography, colours, and layout. Make it easy for people to understand the information that’s being provided. Download 15,000+ Free Golden Age Comics from the Digital Comic Museum. The Digital Comic Museum offers free access to hundreds of pre-1959 comic books, uploaded by users who often offer historical research and commentary alongside high-quality scans. The site’s moderators and administrators are particularly careful to avoid posting non-public-domain comics (a complicated designation, as described in this forum thread). The resulting archive is devoid of many familiar comic-book characters, like those from Marvel, D.C., or Disney. On the other hand, because of this restriction, the archive offers an interesting window into the themes of lesser-known comics in the Golden Age—romance, Westerns, combat, crime, supernatural and horror.

The covers of the romance comics are great examples of popular art. Interested in understanding how homefront American culture reflected fighting in World War II and Korea, and the anxieties of the Cold War?
