Misunderstood Photoshop: The Apply Image Command > Exploring the Apply Image Feature
In this series, Helen Bradley discusses some handy Photoshop tools that are often overlooked or misunderstood, either because they’re hidden away or because their use isn’t immediately apparent. Yet these tools provide smart and useful ways to perform various tasks in Photoshop, so they’re worthy of adding to your Photoshop skill list. In this seventh part of the series, we consider the Apply Image command, which is useful for blending images into each other to create collage effects, for working with layer masks, and for photo editing tasks. The Apply Image command can blend two images together. Before starting to work with it, you need to understand these important rules about using this tool: Both images that you will blend together must be open, and they must be the same size.
Step 12 We're done smoothing the skin, but now the whole image is smooth. We need to use a layer mask to erase the effect from the areas that are not the skin.

Before mocking up new homepage designs for a client, I make sure I’ve received proper design assets like text, a vector logo, photos, and any other digital materials pertinent to the layout. The new Shadow/Highlight adjustment in Photoshop cs is a great new feature that offers a quick and easy method of correcting the lighting in your photos. It allows you to correct over- and underexposed areas in your image. This command works well with subjects photographed with the light source coming from behind (backlit) and consequently have a dark foreground. The new adjustment is also helpful for bringing out the detail in harsh shadow areas in subjects shot in bright, overhead light.
