Misunderstood Photoshop: The Apply Image Command > Exploring the Apply Image Feature

In this series, Helen Bradley discusses some handy Photoshop tools that are often overlooked or misunderstood, either because they’re hidden away or because their use isn’t immediately apparent. Yet these tools provide smart and useful ways to perform various tasks in Photoshop, so they’re worthy of adding to your Photoshop skill list. In this seventh part of the series, we consider the Apply Image command, which is useful for blending images into each other to create collage effects, for working with layer masks, and for photo editing tasks. The Apply Image command can blend two images together. Before starting to work with it, you need to understand these important rules about using this tool: Both images that you will blend together must be open, and they must be the same size. http://www.adobepress.com/articles/article.aspx?p=727922
Step 12 We're done smoothing the skin, but now the whole image is smooth. We need to use a layer mask to erase the effect from the areas that are not the skin. http://photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-retouching/airbrushing-natural-smooth-skin/Page-4.html

Cleaning up Grainy, Low-Quality Digital Photos with Photoshop | Darren Hoyt Dot Com

Before mocking up new homepage designs for a client, I make sure I’ve received proper design assets like text, a vector logo, photos, and any other digital materials pertinent to the layout. If the photos are coming straight from the client’s digital camera, they’re rarely received in optimal condition – they might be dark, grainy, bland or unbalanced. But if they’re the best the client has got and there’s no budget for stock photography, it’s our job as web designers to improvise. The goal is not hyper-realism necessarily, but to create a smooth, attractive photo with no distracting flaws. Basically, take fifty cents and try to make a dollar. Night Photography - photo.net

In this series of Travel Photo Tips articles for photo.net, I plan to cover every aspect of travel photography. Hey, I know that is a tall order, but I have been traveling around the world for 30 years, and have photographed just about every subject in every condition in more than 100 countries. What’s more, I’ve made every mistake in the book! Therefore, I am in a good position to help you avoid mistakes and to help you get the most out of your travel photography experience. I’ll lead off this series focusing on Night Photography—and I’ll lead off this article with one of my favorite nighttime images, a photograph I took just after dusk at Niagara Falls (using the technique I mention below for blurring night lights). The tips here are in no particular order. http://photo.net/travel/night-photography-tips/

Fixing Exposure with Shadow/Highlight in Photoshop cs - For Dummies

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/fixing-exposure-with-shadowhighlight-in-photoshop-.html The new Shadow/Highlight adjustment in Photoshop cs is a great new feature that offers a quick and easy method of correcting the lighting in your photos. It allows you to correct over- and underexposed areas in your image. This command works well with subjects photographed with the light source coming from behind (backlit) and consequently have a dark foreground. The new adjustment is also helpful for bringing out the detail in harsh shadow areas in subjects shot in bright, overhead light.
