For Baselworld 2012 new watch brand HYT will launch an unprecedented watch: it displays the time using liquid. The HYT liquid watch named the H1 it uses two liquids, one fluorescent coloured and one transparent that circulate through microtubes. Technically the closest watch I can think of to this is Concord’s C1 Quantum Gravity which uses liquid to indicate the power reserve – incidentally Vincent Perriard the leader of the project was previously the CEO of Concord. This is however the first time liquid has been used to indicate time in a wristwatch.
With the success of the Vulcania model, HD3 brought out its bi-axial tourbillon with the launch of the new and most exclusive Black Pearl range. For this new adventure Fabrice Gonet was inspired by the wonderful era of pirates and buccaneers, to which he added the retro-futuristic steampunk style so uniquely characteristic of Vulcania. The design of the Black Pearl watch case is straight out of the world of pirates: there is a hatch on the 9 o’clock side of the case which looks like a cannon hatch of a naval man o’war from former times.

Knot0Hundred Timepiece We’re not sure if the jump-hour Knot 0-Hundred watch looks like a camera, a compass, or a high-tech military gadget. We do know it looks awesome, with its three rotating dials, which combine to show the time. The numbers are painted in SuperLuminova and jump from one interval to the next. Two large knobs, one on top and one on the side, control the settings. A clear panel on the underside allows you to see the watch’s inner workings.

Hublot La Clé Du Temps Do you want to have the power to slow down and speed up time? Well with the “La Clé Du Temps” -in English “The key of time”- Hublot have devised a watch that gives you this highly unusual function. You can make the watch go faster or slower than normal time by using a crown on the left of the watch. Using this, the speed of time is increased or decreased, the watch meanwhile keeps track of the correct time and can be returned to it any moment. How this novel function is used is up to the owner, and may be more of a symbolic novelty than anything, but will definitely be a cause of intrigue and a conversational topic.
