Six Traits. Six Trait Handbook. This is a list of items available at this site that are part of the handbook that I provide to each of my 8th grade students.
There are other middle school and intermediate center school teachers in my district who provide this handbook to their students as well. It is my belief that the key to a district's success with this model is consistency. Everything does not have to be identical, but some consistency is beneficial to the students. I have divided the handbook into seven sections--one section for each of the six traits and another section for revising and editing. This year for my students, I will be adding an eighth section covering the MLA (Modern Language Association) format, which my district has adopted for all subjects.
