I’ve been thinking about the Good Humor truck a lot lately. Like, a lot. This happens to me almost every summer. I get super hot. The sweating starts. The farmer’s tan shows up.Caren Alpert takes food photography to a whole new level — literally. The San Francisco-based photographer uses the lens of an electron microscope to capture extreme close-ups of everyday foods. The results look like strange landscapes from far-off planets. Alpert said those edibles she imagined would be boring under the microscope turned out to be the most exciting and beautiful. And vice versa: “The foods that I thought would be a treasure trove of depth and texture are quite dull,” she said. Try your hand at guessing what foods are depicted in the photos below.
