X3Jailbreak Hearing Pushed to Friday. A hearing to decide the fate of the PS3 modchip, the X3JailBreak, that was scheduled to take place on August 31 in Australia has been delayed, according to a Kotaku report. Apparently the presiding judge, Justice Kenny, wasn't able to make the hearing. The court has pushed the hearing to Friday, Sept. 3. An Australian Federal court injunction was put in place to keep the USB device off the market as the court gets ready to hears Sony's arguments. The injunction is extended until the Sept. 3 hearing. According to the X3Jailbreak website, the device is a "USB plug and play solution that installs in seconds, keeping your valid warranty seal in tact," and is "Compatible with all production models FAT and SLIM.
The device also “supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA. " The sticking point for Sony is that it allows for region free gameplay, the ability to play copies of games (many of which come from P2P sites) and supports software (homebrew) that is not authorized or approved by Sony.

It doesn’t rain, it pours. Not only have a number of jailbreak solutions appeared for PS3 over the past few weeks, but the devices being used to perform the jailbreak are also expanding. The jailbreak carried out in the video above has to be the most novel and funniest yet. It uses a flash application called PS3JB on a Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus calculator to run the PSGroove exploit. The calculator is connected to the PS3 via a USB port and the PS3JB application run.
Then the PS3 is powered on, the app does it’s thing, and the PS3 is ready for unsigned code. As PSGroove is open source it shouldn’t be surprising that hackers are experimenting with it, and it’s got to give you a buzz to jailbreak a friends PS3 using a graphing calculator with a 15MHz processor. Unfortunately, Sony has blocked jailbreaking with the release of firmware 3.42 for the PS3 this week.

Cette dernière permettrait tout simplement de pirater la PlayStation 3. 191w ago - Update #2: After examining the PSJailBreak Manager .PKG File below, RichDevX determined that it was hardcoded not to boot on Test consoles, and he has now made available a patch for PS3 Debug users who can decrypt the selfs to run PS3 game back-ups with it! Below (under PS3 Dev Notes) is some more tech info from his findings for those curious, however, please note the PSJailBreak patch above is only for PlayStation 3 Debug users.
At this time it would probably be wise NOT to waste your money on this expensive PSJailBreak USB device, as a FREE PS3 scene solution is bound to surface. Update: CJPC has received confirmation and xorloser has now confirmed that the PSJailBreak runs unsigned code on the PlayStation 3, so it appears this PS3 mod-chip is indeed legitimate!
