What Was Missing From Your E3? What Was Missing From Your E3? Well, E3 is over again for another year. While there are still a few impressions and articles due from the the GayGamer crew who attended this year, the companies have packed up their wonderful toys and gone home, leaving only copious media and preorders behind. Sure, there was a lot of stuff that was awesome, and there was some stuff that wasn't so hot, but what about the stuff that wasn't there at all? A lot of rumors and speculation were floated ahead of this E3, what were you looking forward to that you didn't hear a peep about? While Valve's Gabe Newell showing up at the Sony conference to show off Portal 2 for the PS3 was an awesome surprise (and completely bizarre), I really expected to hear something about Half Life 2: Episode 3 this year.

The card with the February 2011 date that Bioware included with copies of Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening made me hope we'd see a bit from the game at this year's Expo. What about you? Why Nintendo “Won” E3 2010 | Ripten Video Game Blog. Welcome to the third in our multi-part series on E3 2010, and who the “winner” is. One writer will take each company, and argue why they “won” the show.

In the words of a great man (well, a man, at any rate): “We may or may not feel that they won on all levels, however it is our job to convince you that they won based on the foundation of our piece.” Couldn’t be bothered to say it better myself. My job, obviously, is to argue that Nintendo “won” E3 2010. Not only have Nintendo conquered the minds of the casual market, but they appear to have won back the minds of the hardcore market, too.

It wasn’t perfect- there were some low points. They began with a brand new Zelda title for Wii. By this point I was already ready to accept Nintendo back as my favourite thing in the world, but there was so much more to come. Not content with winning us over with adorable Kirby games and new Zelda titles, Nintendo then began to hit us over and over again with great-looking Wii titles.

Best of PC Gaming at E3 2010. Wow, what an amazing PC gaming press conference this year at E3 2010. Remember when that mindblowing alternative control input that could potentially change the landscape of gaming as we know it was officially named? Or when people were going nuts over that bonkers 3D technology that we've totally never seen before? Or that futuristic team combat sport that Ubisoft rep was talking about that's sure to be as popular as football in, hmm, let's be generous and say two years?

Crazy. Unnecessary sarcasm aside (there was no PC gaming press conference, in case you weren't aware), while the console world was in a frothing riot over Kinect, the Nintendo 3DS and Kevin Butler, the folks covering PC games were treated to behind-closed-doors previews of some of the biggest upcoming titles around. Rage Rules id Software's been away from the spotlight for a long time. Portal 2 Also Rules Civilization V Looks Great And unlike Portal 2 and Rage, this game is actually coming out in a few months. E3 2010's Most Violent Games - Xbox360 Feature at IGN. It's sometimes tempting to imagine violence isn't just a creative part of game design but the defining quality through which a game's truer meaning can be understood. It can be hard to really know what a game is about based on a ten minute demo on the showfloor at E3, but violence remains a constant among almost all of the show's biggest games.

What follows is a list of the games that saw the most creative, inspiring, or original instances of violence at this year's show. Dead Space 2 Puke, sputum, and impaled babies. I had to apologize to an EA representative after watching the Dead Space 2 demo. I thought the first game was a disjointed misfire that connected deafening gunplay with ambient exploration without anything to really discover. I had promised to deliver some skeptical criticism and, going in, I was ready to deliver it.

After the demo, it's hard to think of many criticisms that stick. The whole sequence plays like a slapstick version of a Dario Argento movie in outer space. E3 2010: The three creepiest things at E3. While most of the stuff on display at E3 2010 was rather cool in one respect tor another, there were three things I saw today (June 15, 2010) on the exhibit floor that were creepy. And not the good creepy. Not the, “something going bump in the night” or “someone might suddenly jump out at you” kind of creepy. More along the lines of things that probably should not exist and the fact that they do creeps me out.

In no particular order… Fuzzy Elmo and Cookie Monster WiiMote covers Meant to entice your wee one into playing Wii games (I suggest a DS first to help develop fine motor controls), these fuzzy covers have googlie eyes and furry bodies. These were on display to promote Sesame Street Counting Carnival and Elmo’s A-to-Z Adventure for DS. WWE All Stars Display There was a massive display that features two WWE wrestlers and one of them – John Cena – moved.
