So far, we've wandered the charming streets of Montmartre, and breathed in the sweet perfume of roses at Albert Kahn's garden oasis. This afternoon I thought I'd show you The City of Lights from a new perspective, thirty feet up and eye level with the treetops. Stretching 4.5 km from Bastille to the Bois de Vincennes, the Coulée Verte is a hidden garden high in the sky, perched on an abandoned elevated railway. Under the grey skies and gentle raindrops, we're going to enjoy a little afternoon break amongst the trees, enveloped by lush greenery, waving towers of bamboo, and coral roses climbing trellises. And if you're lucky, you might even catch the heavenly scent of lavender lingering in the air.The Coulée Verte, also known as the Promenade Plantée, is one of my favorite spots in Paris when I'm itching for an escape from the screeching and honking cars dominating the city below.
