The reviving essence of the project led the design team to take a restoration approach, in spite of no financial limits and the possibility of demolishing and constructing a new building. In addition to the physical restoration, enlivening the spatial memories was taken into consideration as the most prominent goal in the rehabilitation process. Careful attention was paid that every addition to the building acquire a contemporary tone, and the remainder be restored as elements of the spatial memory. Jul 28, 2011 architact: roof house ‘roof house’ by architact images courtesy of architact the ‘roof house’ by russian based practice architact is a minimalist office space for a company that affiliates with the housing sector. reminiscent of vernacular dwelling forms, the design directly responds to its dense urban environment with a segmented facade allowing clear sight lines connecting pedestrians to the interior. by alternating panels of wood and glass, a balance of natural light and privacy contributes to a desirable work atmosphere. the structure is entirely constructed with timber framing and sheathed with laminated veneer lumber. connections are affixed with steel links and voids are sealed with frameless glass. steel rods are delicately joined in the loft’s vaulted ceiling directly above the work stations. the south facade is protected with automatic wood fins which pivot on a vertical axis to partially shade the interior or completely block the passage of sunlight. balcony model.

Számos nagyszerű, több századot megélt épületen ma is jól működő, nemesréz szerkezeteket találhatunk, mivel ez az anyag nemcsak szép és értékes, de rendkívüli módon tartós és megbízható is. Magyarországon, a múlt század végén, a rézkultúra bizonyosfajta kiteljesedésének lehettünk tanúi. Ezt az építészet, építés, kézművesség általános fellendülése hozta magával, azonban a történelmi változások, később pedig az igénytelenséget teremtő szemlélet megakadályozták, hogy e hagyomány igazán gyökeret verjen.

Hamburg - Wenn Hartmuth Drews an einem alten Haus mit klappriger Wassermühle vorbeikommt, weckt das bei ihm weniger romantische Gefühle, als seinen Unternehmergeist. "Im Idealfall muss nur das Fundament repariert und ein neues Rad reingehängt werden, dann kann es losgehen", sagt der hochgewachsene Ingenieur aus Pinneberg bei Hamburg.
Drews hat eine neue Art von Wassermühle erfunden, die den Wandel der Energieversorgung beschleunigen könnte. Anders als die historischen Vorbilder aus Holz erzeugen seine Räder mit Hilfe eines Generators statt mechanischer Energie elektrischen Strom. Dieser lässt sich entweder vor Ort einsetzen oder zu im Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz (EEG) festgelegten Vergütungssätzen in das Stromnetz einspeisen. Etwa 25.000 Standorte eignen sich laut Drews allein in Deutschland für diese Form der Stromerzeugung. Barn Renovation in Costalissoio, Patchwork Studio | Costalissoio | Italy. A barn, with stable and hayloft, has been renovated as a holiday residence. The people who commissioned the work chose to maintain the status of barn, in order to preserve most of the original structure, the historical surfaces of the building and the landscape inprint.
The ground floor has been transformed from a stable into a storage room on one side and a 'natural'-looking bathroom with wooden features on the other side. The main room on the first floor has been adapted for residential purposes, making excellent use of the original balcony to hang the hay, into a wide system of windows that now gives an impressive view over the Dolomites. The top floor has been adapted into bedrooms. The exterior has been restored and kept as much as possible as it was: only the building's 'wooden skin' is now openable.
