'Mumbai-style' terror attack on UK, France and Germany foiled | World news. A plot to launch "commando-style" attacks on Britain, France, and Germany has been intercepted and foiled by drone attacks on militants based in Pakistan, security and intelligence sources said last night. The plan for suicidal onslaughts similar to the 2008 atrocity in Mumbai – where 166 people were killed in a series of gun and grenade assaults – was disrupted after a combined operation involving US, UK, French and German intelligence agencies, officials said.

British security and intelligence sources, who have been concerned for some time about the possibility of a Mumbai-style attack in Europe, confirmed that they believed a plot was being hatched from Pakistan. The increased rate of coordinated US drone raids along the border with Afghanistan is believed to be a response to intelligence gathered about the plot. Security sources insisted that attacks in Europe were not imminent. No further evidence of such a plot was provided. Ited Nations Department of Political Affairs - Terrorism. This is the case for the international community’s action in the arc of crisis that stretches from the borders of Pakistan to the fringes of the Sahel, encompassing obviously Iran and the Middle East.

It is the case in Europe, where the Treaty of Lisbon and decisions taken to deal with the financial crisis are opening up prospects still to be developed if we are to make the European Union a global player. It is also the case for the global economy, which has not yet resumed the path of solid and sustainable growth, while the G20 must prove that it has the determination to pursue the necessary, essential reforms. At the big table where the decisions are taken, new actors have joined the recognized powers. The claim comes amid fresh warnings by Saudi intelligence of terror attacks targeting Europe – especially France – by the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, an offshoot of Mr. bin Laden's group. The latest report could add pressure on Pakistan to eliminate havens on its territory for Al Qaeda and Taliban militants. CNN quoted an anonymous NATO official saying that the top two leaders of Al Qaeda were living close to each other, but not together, in houses in northwest Pakistan, protected by locals and members of Pakistani intelligence.

Report slams Pakistan drone attacks. New information on the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) campaign of drone strikes in northwest Pakistan directly contradicts the image the Barack Obama administration and the CIA have sought to establish in the news media of a programme based on highly accurate targeting that is effective in disrupting al-Qaeda's terrorist plots against the United States. A new report on civilian casualties in the war in Pakistan has revealed direct evidence that a house was targeted for a drone attack merely because it had been visited by a group of Taliban fighters. The report came shortly after publication of the results of a survey of opinion within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan showing overwhelming popular opposition to the drone strikes and majority support for suicide attacks on US forces under somfe circumstances.

The very next day, he recalled, the house was destroyed by a missile from a drone, killing his only son. Hundreds of civilians killed CIA 'intelligence'
