When Cosmo of the parisian free Radio Aligre FM's Songs of Praise asked me if I would contribute to a special edition of their fine program, in tribute of Karlheinz Stockhausen (who, as you will remember, passed away early december 2007) of course I was happy to oblige. And it was because of Songs of Praise's request that it occurred to me that, being the compulsive archivist that I am, I might still have filed away somewhere the original audio cassette that I used to record the interview with Stockhausen that Martijn Padding and I did for the dutch Vinyl Magazine ( * ), on the occasion of a five week period that Stockhausen and his band (pretty much literally) took over the Royal Conservatory in the Hague (the Netherlands), twenty five years ago, in 1982 ... Happily I did manage to dig out the Stockhausen tape from my Amsterdam archives, complete and unabridged. Welcome to MusicBrainz!

Buck 65 and D-Sisive are teaming up - as The Ricardo Christoff Apparatus - for a project called 100 Story Building. But we need your help to make it work… We’re looking for stories. Tell us a story about a person you know - a friend, a relative, a love interest, a co-worker, a roommate… The story should be funny, strange, tragic, inspiring, epic or all of the above. We’ll pick a bunch of the best stories and turn them into songs. Buck 65 and D-Sisive have laid it all on the line telling their stories with guts and teeth and blood for years and now they want to tell the story of our fellow man/woman/beast.

Incase you missed the news yesterday VCV Rack has launched – when I read their URL I grok it as CV Crack.. and as per the image below, it felt confirmed after my first jam with it last night… Think of it as virtual Eurorack modular, with the initial free release providing basic modules plus a set of Mutable Instruments modules based on the same code as their great Eurorack modules..
At present it is a freestanding app, but there is a plan to provide a VST bridge and I can easily predict this future: there will be a similar explosion of new modules as per what has happened IRL over the last many years. They likely wont be free, but I applaud the long term thinking of the developers to provide the platform for free, to encourage innovation. Will this detract from real modular ie IRL? I doubt it – I think more the reverse will happen.
