If you’re interested in a conference, submit a session for it. If public speaking scares you and you don’t want to work on that yet, see if you can help organize the conference. If you can’t commit to organizing the conference, see if you can volunteer to help out during the event. One time, I wanted to get into mesh conference, but all their student tickets were sold out.
