December 22, 2009 – Brave Halfling Publishing, Black Blade Publishing, and Mythmere Games are pleased to announce a new forward leap in the development of the ENnie-Award-Winning Swords & Wizardry game. Swords & Wizardry is a retro-clone of the original, 1974 edition of the well-known fantasy game written by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson (often called “0e,” for “original edition”). The Core Rules version of 0e, published by Black Blade, includes material derived from the various 0e rules and supplements originally published by Tactical Studies Rules and TSR Hobbies between 1974 and 1977. The WhiteBox version of the 0e game is based solely on the first boxed release of 1974, which was altered in many ways by the later supplements. As of today, Brave Halfling Publishing will become the publisher of the Swords & Wizardry WhiteBox Rules, under license from Mythmere Games, the producer of both versions of Swords & Wizardry.Big Eyes, Small Mouth

RPG here refers solely to narrative (aka "table-top", "pencil-and-paper") games rather than various computer games, MUSH's, etc. For more info, see my general RPG page. In general, each game is listed with author, a capsule description, page count, and file format (i.e. ASCII, HTML, PDF, etc.). The meaning of "page count" is semi-arbitrary for ASCII and HTML, since results differ for different browsers and print setups, but they are at least consistent within each category.

owers and Perils is a RolePlaying Game written by Richard Snider and published by Avalon Hill in 1983. Powers and Perils was published as a bookcase game, No. 852, and consisted of four basic rule books and a fifth book describing an introductory adventure. The adventure was set in the Perilous Lands, the game world described in a separate bookcase publication, No. 8522. The Perilous Lands was published in 1984. Powers and Perils has been described the most elegant roleplaying game, as well as the most complex game ever developed, although not by the same people. Fact is that Avalon Hill published one sepearte adventure, Tower of the Dead, in 1984 and published some material in its game magazine Heroes.
